CFCF - Raining Patterns [MP3/Download]

First off, CFCF is the shit.

I don't know much else about him other than the fact that he's from Montreal, his production will melt your face and his music in general is legitimately magical.

Okay, I'm not sure about that last part but I've been listening to Continent [2009] for years now and it's on my phone to this day. In the days of weekly releases and unlimited music torrents, that's gotta say something. I mean seriously, there's literally not a bad track on this album. If I was forced at gunpoint had to pick a standout song it would most likely be the opening track, Raining Pattern. It's seven and a half minutes of pure magic. Junius - A Reflection On Fire [MP3]

Whoa.

Every once in awhile you hear a song that's just plain old epic. A Reflection On Fire by the band Junius is an example of such a song. When this came on my phone on shuffle last night I was genuinely confused as to why I hadn't already posted it. Insane amounts of energy and dopeness going on here. Fucked Up - The Other Shoe [Video]

I'm pretty new to the Toronto-based band Fucked Up but upon first listen I could tell there was something special about their song, The Other Shoe. First off, I can't even remember where I came across them in the first place, but I somehow found this song, copped the CD and it's been history ever since.

Their album is called David Comes to Life and it details the relationship between the protagonist, David and his lady friend, Veronica. The Other Shoe brings us into the point of the story where everything seems to be fine between the two and then issues bring the relationship to a crossroads. [ex: "Right on time, here's the other shoe/Clouds overhead, start to loom."]

I'll be the first to admit that their music is a little more "screamy" than I'm used to but the album really sticks to the theme and somehow this really works. And strangely enough, the lyrics aren't too difficult to decipher.

I'm positive that this is pretty different from anything I've posted in the past but let me know what you think. And let it get to the 2:40 build up before you make a decision:

Oh yea, and try not to have "Dying on the inside" stuck in your head the rest of the day.

Music of the Moment - Fleet Foxes - Mykonos

My boss put me on Fleet Foxes awhile back but I've pretty much loafed on posting any of their stuff. Until now. This weekend I told myself that I had to post some of their amazing music so here it is. Mykonos is my favorite song from them so far and the video is pretty sick too. I still can't figure out exactly why I like this band so much. They're pretty folkish and mellow....so maybe that's it. Either way, check out Mykonos from their 2008 EP entitled Sun Giant:

I mean, you pretty much have to like this song.

Well, you don't have to like it but it's still a dope song. My Hero by the Foo Fighters always seems to come up on Twitter for Music Mondays so I feel like this post is long overdue. I've also always been a fan of acoustics so I included the live performance from the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. #musicmonday lives.

Music of the Moment - November 30, 2009

I was pretty late copping Weezer's latest album Raditude, mainly because I forgot it even came out! I bought it this weekend as part of my Black Friday festivities and I'm pretty satisfied with it. The one joint that stood out to me from jump was Can't Stop Partying with Lil Wayne. Now, I'm not the biggest Wayne fan in the world, but he doesn't ruin the song. It's a pretty good combo and will probably be the next single. Check it.

I wish I'd heard about the Flaming Lips years ago but I gotta cop another Late Pass. The band has been together since 1983 but I pretty much ignored the mass majority of their music until I heard their new song Watching the Planets from their latest album Embryonic. I'd be lying if I didn't say it was a little different, but it's still dope. Especially the drums. Check it out:

Music of the Moment - May 22, 2009

Definitely been away for awhile but I'm finally back. And I have some new music for you. Back in February I posted the song Island by the group The Whitest Boy Alive. Back then I said, "just get past the name"...and I'm saying the same thing now. Their music is pretty dope despite the name. Music of the Moment - May 9, 2009

Aight, I'm back on my alternative shit. This group, Dinosaur Pile-Up, is still pretty new but I've been able to find some good music from them. The one that caught my ear first was their most popular song, My R&R. The trio from Leeds is still unsigned but they've already launched their 2009 tour. I wish they'd make it over here to the United States but I won't hold my breath. Check out their joint My R&R [Rock & Roll] and also a video of the drum cover for the same song. Yup.
