Today In Music History: Nas - Nas Is Like [3/2/99]

 photo e6b5e758-2a39-4056-b4e4-dc03e623b71e_zpsb101813f.jpg
10 years ago today Nas released the first single from his third [and possibly my favorite] album, I Am. Times have changed and Nas has had his ups and downs since this dropped, but this is still a classic track from a great album. And I gotta mention Premier on the beat. Reminisce with me.

Joey Bada$$ [as JayOhVee] - 20 Miles [MP3]

 photo 74b210ae-3a2b-4f7f-a0eb-315d69cb7030_zps87a53663.jpg
More music, I'm hype. This is a flashback to one of Joey Bada$$' older tracks when he still went by the name JayOhVee. Joey recorded 20 Miles when he was just 16 years old [I mean, he's only like 18 now. Man, when I was 18, I was still working at Foot Locker trying to get free refills from the girl at Sbarro. Sorry. Rambling.]. Oh yeah, more about the song!—he also spit over the timeless Mos Def classic Umi Says. Pretty dope, check it out.

And good looks to Potholes in My Blog [dope site, btw] for being the first site that I saw with this.

Kendrick Lamar feat. Drake - Poetic Justice [Video]

Finally, some visuals for Poetic Justice, the Janet Jackson-sampled single from Kendrick Lamar's amzaing debut, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.). Oh yea, and a not-so somber Drake is on it. The clip opens up with the familiar Sherane... skit and the video gets moving from there. Is it just me or did this video take about a month or two too long to drop? Either way, check it out:

(Spotted at HHNM & Miss Info)

Another dope visual from Kendrick. And not a minute too late.

CFCF - Raining Patterns [MP3/Download]

Photobucket
First off, CFCF is the shit.

I don't know much else about him other than the fact that he's from Montreal, his production will melt your face and his music in general is legitimately magical.

Okay, I'm not sure about that last part but I've been listening to Continent [2009] for years now and it's on my phone to this day. In the days of weekly releases and unlimited music torrents, that's gotta say something. I mean seriously, there's literally not a bad track on this album. If I was forced at gunpoint had to pick a standout song it would most likely be the opening track, Raining Pattern. It's seven and a half minutes of pure magic. Check it out below and if you like it like I'm assuming you will, check out more music from CFCF on Soundcloud. Definitely worth checking out, music fans.

CFCF - Raining Patterns

[Note: It might not seem like it, but I had a pretty tough time picking between Raining Patterns and another track from Continent, You Hear Colours. Also worth checking out. Peace.]

Kilo Kish - Creepwave [Both Versions/MP3 + Download]

Photobucket
I love Kilo Kish.

I mean, like love. At this point, she can do no wrong in my eyes and she's probably the coolest girl on earth. She also makes music occasionally. My favorite song from her has always been Creepwave and main knock was that it was just a brief two minutes of greatness. Now that she's released K+ with an updated, remastered, Flatbush Zombie-assisted version, I've been hooked all over again. Check out both versions of Creepwave below. Thanks Kish, um...I love you.
