Bama Wins the BCS National Championship...Yaye. I Guess.

Photobucket

The Alabama Crimson Tide finished off a perfect season by winning the BCS National Championship last night against Texas. It was their first championship since 1992 and they won the game on the defensive side of the ball. By knocking Colt McCoy out after just five plays, Bama's defense was able to load the box and kill the run. Plus, when you have Gilbert Javier Arenas "killing drives," it's going to be hard to get your offense going. Ingram and Richardson played really big. So big, that even McElroy's 59 passing yards couldn't blow the game. [Note: I was also surprised/impressed to find that McElroy is a Rhodes Scholar candidate.] Congrats to the Tide. AND I almost got the score right...almost.

[Note: I didn't include a photo of Alabama or Nick Saban celebrating because I have a strict "No Alabama or Nick Saban Celebrating" Rule enforced on this blog. I'm happy for them, and the SEC, but we're still rivals at the end of the day. At least your fans are proud.]

Bama vs. Texas Prediction

Photobucket

Let's be honest, it's easy to hate dislike Nick Saban. Sure, he's arrogant, might seem rude and "fun isn't a part of his playbook," but there's one thing you can't take away from Nick Saban: He is a good coach. Point, blank, period. As an LSU fan I'd have to be in denial not to admit that our last two National Championships [03 & 07] weren't the result of great coaching and recruiting done by Saban. That's why coaching is the main advantage that I'm giving Bama over Texas. That and Mark Ingram. The single advantage that I'll give Texas is that they have Colt McCoy and a more experienced team. But we also remember what happened when Florida had Tim Tebow...and a more experienced team. The point of this blog is to be right, not to hope that one of my team's arch rivals is defeated. Plus, I gotta go with the SEC school at the end of the day. Bama beats Texas.

[Note: I'm thinking the score's gonna be around 31-21 Bama.]

Couldn't let good ol Nick slide with this one...

Cole...You Stupid [Early-Season] Dumb Athlete of the Year

Photobucket
Yesterday a good friend of mine, @B_5 posed the question:
Photobucket
The answer is "No."

Gilbert Arenas, you are the frontrunner for 2010-2011 Dumb Athlete of the Year for brining unloaded guns into your practice facility as a "joke" due to your refusal to pay a gambling debt?? More along the lines of Plaxico Burress than Dumb Athlete of the Year Alum Carlos Dunlap, an example could be made out of Arenas due to him transporting guns from Virginia to the District. Dumb. He claimed to take them from his home to keep them away from his young children. If you say so. Whether that's true or not will be argued but there's one thing that doesn't lie. And that' the numbers: $ 147,208 per game.

Gilbert Arenas, you are the [early-season] Dumb Athlete of the Year.

[Note: I don't know what's going to ultimately happen to Gilbert as a result of this but I do know one thing: Javaris definitely isn't getting his money now!]

You Can Find Anything on Craigslist...

Seriously. Take me for example. I found a full Rock Band system complete with a guitar, mic and drums for $50. Hard to beat. Some other things might be a little more weird. Por ejemplo...

Damn son.
And YES, this was real.

My MacBook is Still Broken...This Made Me Feel Better

Photobucket
So yea, my MacBook has been in MacHeaven since right before Christmas. I've been forced to use a PC laptop since then and it is nothing short of wretched. I got spoiled by the speed, amenities and overall performance of my Mac but now I'm confined to this slow, heavy and dark Compaq. I found this video on YouTube the other day and it seemed to distract me from my sorrows...for awhile. It's a parody of The Lonely Island's I'm On a Boat video. If you haven't seen the original, take a late pass and check it out here. After that, peep the version from SwitchtoMac.com:
I need my Mac back.

Ok, cue the music. [Fabolous' Feels Like I'm Back]

No for real, cue the music.

I took a break from the blog during December for family time and I'm glad that I did. My brother got married, I had some more job interviews and I was able to spend much needed time with the fam. Mission complete.

Now that I'm back, let the hilarity ensue.
And you know this.
