3 Days

Three. More. Days. I actually might make it to Saturday.

Actually, there's really only one day until football makes its triumphant return. College Football officially kicks off tomorrow night with UNC/South Carolina. I'll be shocked and personally disappointed if I miss a single snap. But, really, we all know it's about LSU/TCU on Saturday. I'm......literally at a loss for words. We'll call it "excited." I'm going to a friend's crib tomorrow for the LSU pregame-game tomorrow (I'm betting on South Carolina, btw) but my mind will obviously be on the Tigers matchup against the Frogs. And TCU Coach Gary Patterson has definitely become increasingly douchebag-like over the past few weeks. Especially after taking shots at the throne. His punishment must be [and will be] more severe.

But back to tomorrow's game. My official prediction: USC over UNC 28 - 17. Jadeveon Clowney with 6 tackles (2.5 sacks) to lead the Gamecocks to victory. I hope he gets a legit shot at the Heisman this year. After all, he is a Freak.

So yeah, it doesn't look like I'll be making the trek to Dallas for the LSU/TCU game after all [still holding out hope, though] but I'm exhilarated just the same. I think we all can agree that it's just time for football to get started. That being said, it's clearly probably too soon to start with score predictions but I'm putting my first one out there: LSU over TCU 30 - 17. You heard it here first. [This score will most likely [read: 100%] change by kickoff, especially if TCU decides to ever name their starter at QB.

Bring on the Frogs, breh. We have no worries.

It's about that time. I've started my official countdown to the Cowboys Classic between LSU and TCU. Even though it's essentially a home game for TCU, I'm beyond hype. Tiger fans travel like you wouldn't believe and we won this joint—handily, might I add—back in 2011. Now my only project is actually finding tickets in the next month and a half. IT SHALL BE DONE.

Note: Here's And the Valley Shook's predicitons for the offensive depth chart. Great info. Read every word.

Can you tell I'm excited for football?

Bama vs. Texas Prediction

Photobucket

Let's be honest, it's easy to hate dislike Nick Saban. Sure, he's arrogant, might seem rude and "fun isn't a part of his playbook," but there's one thing you can't take away from Nick Saban: He is a good coach. Point, blank, period. As an LSU fan I'd have to be in denial not to admit that our last two National Championships [03 & 07] weren't the result of great coaching and recruiting done by Saban. That's why coaching is the main advantage that I'm giving Bama over Texas. That and Mark Ingram. The single advantage that I'll give Texas is that they have Colt McCoy and a more experienced team. But we also remember what happened when Florida had Tim Tebow...and a more experienced team. The point of this blog is to be right, not to hope that one of my team's arch rivals is defeated. Plus, I gotta go with the SEC school at the end of the day. Bama beats Texas.

[Note: I'm thinking the score's gonna be around 31-21 Bama.]

[Note #2: I HAD to post this picture just to mess with my boy @martEMCfly]

Couldn't let good ol Nick slide with this one...

Aight, So the Season is Pretty Much a Wrap, But These Are DOPE

Photobucket
Nike does it again.

This week, college football teams around the country will showcase their special Nike Pro-Combat uniforms. Nike has completely redesigned the jerseys of 10 schools (LSU, Miami, Mizzouri, Florida State, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas, TCU, Virginia Tech and Ohio State) all the way from the helmet and jersey to the dry fits and cleats. It's a win-win for both parties since Nike gets free advertising and the players and fans get to see new jerseys. Especially for teams like LSU and Ohio State with really conservative jerseys. Not only do the jerseys add a new look to the programs but the jerseys are up to 40% lighter than the normal ones.

I mean, it might not sound like much, but these jerseys are DOPE. And don't sleep on the gloves. Each team has their logo one the palm of the gloves. Dopeness.

See the whole story and a better look here.

Texas: Texas Fight
TCU: Don't Back Down

What Were Your Parents Thinking???

Photobucket
Dallas Austin.

I know he's a famous music producer and this is random, but his name sucks. Seeing his name yesterday reminded me of the time me and my boy Torrance actually talked about this fact. The convo went a little like this:

Torrance: You know who's name sucks?? Dallas Austin.
Me: Right. Like were his parents obsessed with Texas or some shit??
Torrance: Yea. He probably has a brother named Houston Dallas Austin.
Me: And his full name is Dallas San Antonio Austin.
Torrance: Worst name ever??
Me: Don't forget about Flozell Adams.
Both: Hahahaha.

You might have had to be there in order to laugh at this. But I'm sure Torrance is dying at this shit. But seriously, the name Dallas Austin sucks but at least it's not Flozell. My man @TheThinkStew said Flozell sounds like the name of an inhaler. To me it sounds more like one of those 1970s soul artists on those 20th Century Masters compilations. "Featuring the musical styles of FLOZELLLL ADAMSSSS!!" Their names really do suck.

...I'm just sayin.

Florida Rockin the AP.../Perriloux at it AGAIN???

So I guess Florida's gonna be good again this year.

Photobucket
Photobucket
Tebow and the boys are on a mission to repeat as National Champs and apparently a lot of people think they will. In the Associated Press' Preseason Top 25, the Gators received 58 of 60 first place votes -- the most in the history of the poll. Hot damn. Texas got the other two first place votes but it really doesn't matter. As far as the SEC goes, Bama came in at #5, Ole Miss snuck in at #8 [overrated], LSU came in at #11 and Georgia rounded it out at #13. Not too bad. Bama has a chance to go pretty far and I feel like my Tigers are a sleeper this year but I'm not too convinced on Ole Miss and UGA. They still have a lot to prove in my opinion.
Photobucket
In other "Can't Get Right" news, Ryan Perriloux [the former #1 ranked QB in high school football and LSU signee] just got suspended for the season opener for his team Jacksonville State. Apparently he violated some team rules and will be forced to sit the game out. His season debut will be the following week against Florida State. Talk about wasted talent. He actually still has all the talent in the world, he's just been making really bad decisions. When I was in high school, we went against this fool in 7 on 7 and he was literally the best quarterback I've ever played against. I still feel like he can make it to the league one day if he cleans up his act and settles down some. Real talk, had he done the right thing last year he would have been our starting QB and we wouldn't have gone 8-5. But everything happens for a reason. I wish him all the best but DAMN bro.

More sports after the jump.

Sweet 16 Preview/Fusion x N.E.R.D. Concert @ Emory. Oww.

Even though my bracket hasn't been perfect thus far, I'm still at the top of almost all of my Bracket Leaderboards and 14 of my Sweet 16 are left. Ow.

Photobucket

Anyway, here's how I see the first half of this round turning out:
  • Game 1: UConn (1) vs. Purdue (5)
It's gotta be UConn. I'm surprised that Purdue has even made it this far. Jeff Adrien is about to go wild, A.J. Price will continue to show why he's one of the oldest best guards in the country and Thabeet is about to erase about 10 shots. This one might get ugly early. Uh oh.
  • Game 2: Xavier (4) vs. Pittsburgh (1)
I have Pitt as my National Champ, so of course I'm going with them. Part of the reason is that like Purdue, I think Xavier has overachieved a little bit this year. It's gonna catch up with them this game. The triple-headed monster of Blair, Young and Fields will be way too much for any one on Xavier's squad to handle. Can anyone name three players on Xavier's squad anyway...??
  • Game 3: Missouri (3) vs. Memphis (2)
This one wasn't as easy to call. Oh wait, yeah it was. Memphis is about to run, run and then they might run against Mizzou. They got athletes like Diddy got fresh shoes. Dozier is a beast in the paint and freshman guard Tyreke Evans has lived up to the hype. Should be a big win. And imagine if they still had D.Rose...[Yikes!!]
  • Game 4: Villanova (3) vs. Duke (2)
I had to actually think about this one because I had Duke losing to Texas last round. I guess I'll go with....Duke. The main two reasons for this are Gerald Henderson and Coach K. Henderson's been pretty Kobe-esque these last three or four weeks and this should continue. He pretty much put Duke on his back and took out a pretty good Texas team. Don't let me down Gerald...or else...

...or else I might not win the bracket.

Too bad I won't be home to watch these joints. Fusion x N.E.R.D. concert tonight at Emory and after party @ Famous Bar. Come show support. Plus, Fusion AND N.E.R.D. for $25?? Dope.
Owwwwww.

The First Week of March Madness. Oww.

So everything hasn't gone according to plan with my bracket.

  • Wake T'd me. I definitely had them going to the Sweet 16.
  • Duke actually decided to play against Texas which kills hurts my Elite 8. Oh well.
  • Pitt looked far from beastly in their game against Oklahoma State. Wtf. The only constants were Sam Young dropping 32 and DeJaun Blair's double-double. At least they should smash Xavier on Thursday.
But the one thing that went well was that my Tigers fought til the end against UNC. We started the game off straight but at the end, the bench for North Carolina was just too much. With eight minutes left, the game was tied at 63 but LSU couldn't withstand the 11-0 run by the Tar Heels. All-in-all, good season, boys: SEC Champs, Conference Player and Coach of the Year and a strong showing in the tourney. And I don't care what anyone says, Marcus Thornton should will be a frirst rounder. He gets buckets. And Trent Johnson might look like an ostrich but he really is a great coach.

Three hottest teams right now have to be UConn, 'Cuse and yeah, Duke. Big wins in the last round should give them momentum heading into and through the Sweet 16.

Oh yeah, and USC got beat by Michigan State yesterday. Did anybody peep Lil Romeo on the bench looking concerned towards the end of the game?? Classic.
^ Concerned. ^

I Wasn't Gonna Do It....But I Did.

Sad, sad music for a sad, sad finish for the Tide.

Sike nah, go Utes and fuck forget Bama. This beating that the Utes put on Bama came out of nowhere and the fact that Utah's undefeated season means nothing is another example of why we need a playoff system. Wayne even said it on First Take today. I'm not gonna front like I predicted Bama getting upset but that's even more reason for a playoff. Damn.

And I was gonna leave it at the Sugar Bowl but I would be remiss if I didn't say ANYthing about last night's Fiesta Bowl with Texas and CHOKE-hio State.

These guys can't catch a break. I did think it was classy that the Sweater Vest let Todd Boeckman get some burn in his last game, especially when he threw T.Pryor that almost game-winning TD. Doesn't really matter though. Ohio State once again cries the tears of unfathomable sadness.
Because they lost.
Again.

[Note: Did anyone else catch the hair on that Texas player on the sideline right after the game-winning drive?? His mullet single-handedly won Texas the game.]

[Note Pt. 2: Anybody catch that "tears of unfahomable sadness" reference?? Didn't think so.]

Bowl Game Schedule & Predictions...Owwww

It's been a crazy year for college football and now that the Tide has been ROLLED, it's time to get ready for the Bowl Game Series.

[Note: I'm not detailing all of the bowl games, just the major ones and the ones I'm watching. Owwww.]

December:

  • 31: -MY LSU Tigers vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Chic-Fil-A Bowl. (7:30)
WTF?? How the hell did we land this one?? I know we had a disappointing year defending our 2007 National Championship, but does that deserve a pairing with Georgia Tech in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GEORGIA?! Damn. I guess us playing in all those Sugar Bowls (7) has come back to haunt us. Even though it's essentially a home game for the Jackets, I still feel like we can beat them in their home state city.

January:
  • 1: -UGA Bulldogs vs. Michigan State Spartans in the Capital One Bowl. (1 pm)
I was probably one of the people least surprised by Georgia's mediocre season, but it's I still have faith in them against Michigan State. Don't get me wrong, Javon Ringer could cause some problems but I feel like Stafford x Moreno x Massaquoi are even more dangerous. Plus, with this being the possible last game for these three together, I'm looking for big numbers.

  • -Penn State Nittany Lions vs. USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl. (4:30)
Oh damn. This might be one of the games I'm really looking forward to. USC, who has arguably more talent than any other team in the nation, is going against a Penn State team who was one loss away from the National Championship. I have to go with USC on this one. Their roster is too deep (pause) for Penn State to match up with, plus they're looking to prove that this should have been their year. Should be pretty high scoring, for USC at least.

  • -Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Virginia Tech Hokies in the Orange Bowl. (8:30)
This should also be a good one because I'm a fan of Tyrod Taylor. [Especially after they tried to T him]. I know that a 9-4 record from Tech doesn't jump out at you but they lost those four to some really good teams. Also, I think that Cincy might be a little bit of hype. This is the one game that I'm choosing to go with the underdog even though I'm not too sure it's gonna happen.

  • 2: -Ole Miss Rebels vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Cotton Bowl. (2 pm)
I usually go with the SEC team but...Texas Tech is gonna smash Ole Miss in this one. I could have easily seen Texas Tech in the National Championship while Ole Miss has more fluke wins than a little bit. Crabtree is about to go OFF on this overrated defense. Should be one of the more lopsided bowl games this year.

  • -Utah Utes vs. Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl. (8 pm)
This should be another one-sided game. Alabama is another team that could have been in the big dance, but fell short at the end. Utah was able to go undefeated but they really only beat two quality teams. It's hard for me to say it, but Bama fucking killed half of the [SEC] teams they played this year. Bama's gonna give Utah the business by at least 3 TD's. Yurp.

  • 5: -Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Texas Longhorns in the Fiesta Bowl. (8 pm)
I'm not gonna miss one snap of this one. Ohio State has a lot to prove after a couple of trips to the Championship and the first year of a promising, young quarterback, a win over Texas would be huge. Texas, on the other hand, might have even more to prove. They were snubbed by the BCS and were unable to play in the Big 12 Championship, a game that would have allowed them to make it to the National Championship. Led by Heisman candidate Colt McCoy, they are one of the most dangerous teams in the country. This should be a legendary match-up of classic college football teams. But I'm taking Texas. [Sorry Wonderboy.]

  • 8: -Florida Gators vs. Oklahoma Sooners in the FedEx National Championship. (8 pm)
The matchup of all matchups. A fast, quick striking offense facing a powerful and experienced defense. Oklahoma's record-setting offense has never seen a defense like Florida's but at the same time, Florida didn't face an offense like OU's this year. Percy Harvin should be at full strength and we've seen what happens when he is. I'm going with Florida off the strength of being an SEC team and I can't bet against Tim Tebow. I kind of wish it was Florida/Texas, but beggars can't be choosers. Hopefully after he cleans up the country a little bit, Barack will put his foot down and force a college football playoff. Only time will tell.

Should be a fucking awesome Bowl season. Bowlinnnnn'!!

Big Weeks Ahead. Oh, and basketball too...

This year in college football has been just as up-and-down as it has in the recent past. The #1 spot, which has not been the place to be, has been pretty good to Alabama as they've been able to hold onto it for the past few weeks. Texas Tech was able to shit on beat Oklahoma State 56-20 to stay at #2 and Texas beat Baylor to remain at #3. No real surprises here. But, the next few weeks are going to be huge for these three. Bama should coast against Mississippi State but their rivalry game against Auburn is always a big game. And not to mention these statements said by Auburn's Brad Lester. Never a good idea, yo. Especially when your team sucks. [Right Mauri??] If Bama can win these two and take down Florida in the SEC Championships, they should be more than capable of not only going to the National Championship, but they should considered the favorite. [Note: I could even go as far to call Bama/Florida the real National Championship.] Texas Tech's biggest test will be this weekend against #5 Oklahoma. The Sooners have a lot to prove after losing to a then-#5 Texas in the middle of the season. Graham Harrell's Heisman, along with a shot the National Championship, lie in Saturday's game in Norman - the biggest game in Tech history. And now, on to Texas. Despite having the distraction of a racist teammate, the Longhorns might have the easiest remaining schedule to get to the Championship. Baylor, an overrated Kansas team and Texas A&M are all that remain between Texas and the Big 12 Championship. Since the winner of that game will be Texas, Oklahoma or Texas Tech, they should be the other team in the National Championship.

With that being said, I'm going with the SEC team. Even though it burns my football soul, I'm going to go with Bama or Florida in the Championship, especially since it will be most likely be against a Big 12 team. SEC pwns.

>

And with that being said...NCAA basketball has begun!! ...and UNC is preseason #1. While that might seem like a good thing, the preseason #1 has gone on to win the NCAA Championship only 2 of the last ten years. 20%?? Can the Tar Heels beat history?? We'll see. The USA Today Top 10 as it is now:
1. North Carolina
2. UConn
3. Louisville
4. UCLA
5. Duke
6. Pittsburgh
7. Michigan State
8. Texas
9. Notre Dame
10. Purdue

Should be a great year of College Hoops.

or

We'll see...

Down. Goes. Georgia....and Dallas. Again.

I've been waiting since the UGA/Bama game to say that again, but thanks to Georgia, I can say it again. Georgia got fucking owned by Florida on Saturday in Jacksonville, 49-10. Thirty. Nine. Points. Damn. Oh well, no championship for you.
LSU took care of business against Tulane and has a HUGE chance to upset Bama this weekend as the Tide are #1 in the nation for the first time in school history. I really think that we have enough athletes, defense and enough hatred for Nick Saban to pull out the upset. Nothing would make me happier than to spoil the season for Bama.

All football fans from Texas should KILL THEMSELVES. Not necessarily because of of the Longhorns, who fell short but put up a good fight in one of the best college football games of the year. They managed to come back on Texas Tech and only left them 8 seconds to retaliate. They only needed seven. Not to mention that Michael Crabtree is a MONSTER and the best receiver in college football. Man, getting pushed out of National Championship contention sure can make you concerneddddd. But what can you do when Graham Harrell goes 36 for 53, 474 yards and 2 touchdowns?? ...you lose, that's what you do.

[Note: And the Texas Tech student section dressing like the Joker was tight as shit.]

But back to Texas football fans committing mass suicide...the Cowboys lose again?!? Now, I've never been the biggest Cowboy's hater but uh, Super Bowl champs?? Not when your record is looking very Ravens-like...

Oh well, Rex Grossman is BACK!! ...but not like he never left.

Sorry Dallas fans. Don't mean to hurt you but....U MAD.

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

And I'm back...

Midterms and Homecoming got me off my awr game, but I'm back.

Aight,
-LSU and Ohio State lost.
-Texas (1) and Texas Tech (5) play this weekend.
-The NBA kicked off the regular season last night and my boys (Kobe, Lebron and D.Rose) had solid games....but the highlight of the night was Paul Pierce fucking crying at the ring ceremony.
-The Phillies ended up winning the World Series last night. [But...who cares??]

That's pretty much for sports until the weekend and I'm still pretty bummed that LSU is out of both the SEC and NCAA title races.....but at least we're not Auburn...

Auburn, you lose.

Sunday, October 12, 2008

What. Have. We. Done??

Damn. Damn. Damn. We got UGA'd, Ohio Stated, Missouried.

Now that we (LSU) and Missouri got pwnd lost, we've opened the door for fucking Bama and Texas to be the top two teams in the country. I would say more but I don't want to talk about it.

BAMA at #1???????
...this is a bad day for College football.

I feel you little guy...
Great, Bama fans rejoice.
