The biggest game of the 2012 College Football season is about 30 hours away and I'm way too dialed in. My Tigers have the unique opportunity to get back in the National Championship hunt all while avenging last year's loss and inflicting pain on bitter rival Alabama. Whew. The last time I was this hype over a sporting event it was LSU vs. Bama 2012 Pt. 1. And unfortunately, we all know how that turned out.

FINALLY. THE REMATCH IS HERE.

Well first off, Happy New Year all. I've basically been on an extended blog break since the holidays but I'm finally making my triumphant return. And for very good reason. Tonight, January 9, 2012 at 8:00 pm EST, my LSU Tigers are up for their third National Championship since 2003 [and perfection] against the hated and bammish Alabama Crimson Tide. Less than a week after getting spurned by arguably the nation’s top safety prospect—and fellow Dutchtown High School alum—Landon Collins, we’re set to make history as the greatest football team in history. I’m aware that that’s a pretty bold statement, but I’ll stand by it. [Trust me, I’ll explain another day in another post.] Regardless, tonight’s the night. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be the shorter fellow sporting the purple and gold “BEAT BAMA AGAIN” t-shirt.

And I’ll be slightly drunk.

Black Friday Football. I Neeeed It.

I know LSU is a long shot for the National Championship. I know this. But there's still games to be played...so you're sayin there's still a chance?????

I mean, it's a long shot but definitely still a possibility. All I need for my Tigers to make it to the big dance are any combination of the following:

• Alabama beat Auburn today.

With all this Cam Newton speculation, not to mention the best current college football coach in Nick Saban and the reigning National Champion at HOME...it's just gonna be too much for AU to keep up with.

• Boise State lose to Nevada tonight.

This is a long shot. A real long shot. But I need it. The only thing going for Nevada is that they're in the Top 20 and playing at home. But they don't really stand a chance.

• Oregon upset by Oregon State Next Weekend

I actually feel like this could happen. I mean, it's a rivalry game that O-State has had on their radar all season. Also, they're obviously gonna play up for it, they have nothing to lose and they'll be at home. I would actually put money on it.

So I know I'm gonna be leaning heavily on the football gods. Again, I know this. But I really feel like this could put us in the National Championship against TCU without even playing in the SEC Championship.

Can you touch that?? CAN YOU TOUCH THAT?!

LSU > Bama. As If You Didn't Already Know...

I'm a couple days late due to being busy at work but HOW BOUT THEM TIGERS??? Saturday night in Baton Rouge we were able to knock off our bitter rival the Alabama Crimson Tide 24-21, giving us our marquee win of the year and ruining the Tide's chance to repeat as National Champions. This is pretty much what happened: The play of the game in my opinion was this reverse on 4^th & 1 in the fourth quarter:

The win puts us at the mercy of Auburn because we need for them to lose twice in order for us to have a shot at the SEC Championship and consequently a shot at the National Championship. It's definitely a long shot but it's also light years away from Les Miles being on the hot seat. Not too bad.

But what might be bad is Les Miles' latest eating habit...eating grass.
Les Miles. A guy who eats grass and occasionally loses track of time.
But hey man, whatever it takes.

Florida and Bama Dominate All-SEC Teams

Well damn.

Florida and Alabama continued their dominance of the SEC this year by having 10 and 9 players on the All-SEC First and Second teams, respectively. This doesn't come as much of a surprise as the two teams finished undefeated and 1 and 2 in the SEC. LSU had 5 players make the cut. Bama also had the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year as well as Coach of the Year. [Ingram, McClain and Satan Saban]

Finally. Florida vs. Bama

So yeah, I can't be the only person treating this game like the true National Championship. The SEC Championship is being played today at here in Atlanta with #1 Florida playing #2 Alabama. It's pretty hard to predict this one, but I'm going with Florida. Even without dumb ass Carlos Dunlap I think that Florida's D will be too much. McElroy hasn't really been tested on a stage like this, while Tebow has done this pretty much every year he's played. Mark Ingram's health could be an issue for Bama even though reports say he's going to play. Plus, Trent Richardson's not a bum either. I also feel like the matchup between Julio Jones and Joe Haden will be big also. But like I said, Saban and all, the Tide just won't have enough to beat Florida.

Sorry Bama fans.

But hey, at least you can sit back and imagine this actually happened...

Yes, you, Carlos Dunlap.

You have been awarded the first ever Dumb Athlete of the Week Award for receiving a DUI this morning after being found passed out at a stoplight at the wheel of your Chrysler. Not only were you arrested... but FOUR DAYS before the National SEC Championship?? #comeonson And Carlos, we all know you're not a bum on the field. I mean, you were the Defensive MVP of the National Championship last year! Yikes. The University of Florida hasn't said whether or not you'll be suspended for the game, but it's pretty likely. Not only that, but it also shows poor judgement in the eyes of NFL scouts. You can't be serious, man. I have nothing else to say.
