The Kevin Garnett Situation....Or Lack Thereof.

Photobucket
By now we've all heard Charlie Villanueva's accusations that Kevin Garnett called him a "cancer patient" during a recent Celtics/Pistons game. First off, I don't condone any statements that are insensitive to the struggle that people with cancer go through. I have family members that have struggled with the disease and it's nothing to take lightly. Secondly, Garnett did release a statement saying that his words were twisted and he actually said Villanueva was "cancerous to his team and the league."

Now something just ain't right. I played sports growing up, I've been in the heat of battle and I've even said/done things during the moment but I refuse to believe that KG used the choice of words contained in his statement. Like seriously, it's just not something you would say going up for a rebound. But at the same time, Charlie....COME ON SON. You broke both Man Code and Athlete Code by publicly commenting about something that was or wasn't said during battle. If Garnett did call him a cancer patient, he was undoubtedly wrong, especially with Villanueva's condition but that's something you should really handle with him one-on-one.
This should not have been national news. Period. KG's still my man and we'll probably never know what was/wasn't said.

Sorry for the rant.
But not really.

Say What You Want About Shaq...

...but he's one of the funniest athletes of all time.

Good luck.

...even if it is with Boston.

The NBA Playoffs Have Been the Jealous

Photobucket
As much as it pains me to say, I was rooting for Lebron and the Cavs to win the Championship this year after they knocked off my Bulls but ever since they went out, the playoffs have been BORING. Each round I've found myself saying, "Man, this round sucks but next round bout to be dope." I've been disappointed each time. Take these conference semis for example. Going in, I was thinking both the Lakers/Suns and the Magic/Celtics had the chance to be epic...but I was wrong. There were, however, a couple of highlights from last night's game, such as the death of Grant Hill's ankles:

My Response:

And for your gif image pleasure:

Another crazy highlight was Shannon Brown's near epic/fatal posterization of Jason Richardson:

That picture looks Photoshopped like shit....but it's not.

And the last, and possibly funniest image from last night's game was....AC Green??
Photobucket
He had a striking resemblance to this sketch from the Chris Rock Show:
Even though it's only been one game each, I think the Conference Finals are over and we're set for a Lakers/Celtics rematch. I'm sure that will leave Steve Kerr and all the Suns fans feeling like this:

Is it football season yet??????

So THIS Is Who the Cavs Got Murdered By Last Night???

Photobucket
Word, Lebron?? I got you guys winning this whole thing now that the Bulls are out but I'm gonna need more than 15 points on 3-14 shooting. You're the MVP and it's going to take an MVP-type performance to win in Game 6. You can believe that I'll be front row for this joint, popcorn in hand like:
Photobucket
Game 6 in Boston is tomorrow at 8:00 on TNT. Don't miss it.

It might be Lebron's last game as a Cav...

NBA Throwback: Antoine Walker Shimmy Dance

Photobucket
First off, I am not a Celtics fan. I do, however, like KG, Jesus Shuttlesworth and Nate Rob but other than that, I've hated them for pretty much my whole basketball life. But, if you're in your early to mid 20's and consider yourself a basketball fan, I'm sure you remember the Antoine Walker days. And by days, I mean the times he would hit a three and do his shimmy dance. For example:

This was from his time with Dallas, but you get the point

I was reading Trey Kerby's post about the 20 Most Bloggable NBA Photos and when I came across this one of Antoine Walker ↓↓
Photobucket
it reminded me of all the great Photoshopped versions:

Miami Says Nah....They Said Nah.

Photobucket
I couldn't bear to crop this photo.

The Miami Heat were able to avoid being swept by the Boston Celtics by relying on their proven leader, Dwyane Wade. Wade had his best playoff game ever after going off for 46, 5 and 5. But none of his buckets were any bigger than this one:

EGHCK, KG. EGHCK.

Good win for the Heat and also [and more importantly] D.Wade's contract for next year. Pay-Per.

Back Like I Never Left/The Season Ends...

Photobucket
Sorry for the brief hiatus, school's really been kicking in. But it's almost over....forever.

My Bulls ended up losing to the Celtics in Game 7 in Boston. Damn. We really played well throughout the series and it sucked to go out like this. Ben Gordon had a big 33 to lead all scorers but it wasn't enough. During the playoffs D.Rose played beyond his years and the Miller/Salmons trade proved to be really big for us. The worst part of the whole thing might be that had we gotten past Boston, we would have had a real chance to beat Orlando in the second round. wtf. I'm disappointed we had to go out like this, but after the greatest series in NBA Playoff history, I can't be too mad.

Oh wait, yeah I can.
Fuck Boston.

Now I don't have to watch any basketball until Kobe vs. Lebron in the Finals. Uh oh.

Greatest Game Ever?? ...Yeah, I Think So

Photobucket

Did I call this or did I call this??

Last night's Bull/Celtics triple overtime thriller was on of the most entertaining sports events I've ever witnessed. And that's NO hype. I was literally on the edge of my seat from the beginning of the fourth quarter to the last second of the third overtime. Three overtimes though?? I was definitely two Ray Allen three pointers away from having a conniption, but we were able to pull this one out. There were so many big plays from D.Rose, John Salmons, Ben Gordon and everybody, but two big plays really sealed the deal for us. The first big one was Joakim Noah's mean ass dunk on Paul Pierce. Not only did it put us up by 2 with 35 seconds left, but it gave Paul Pierce [aka Mr. Aardvark] his sixth foul. And when I say "dunk on" I mean "murderlize." Just check it out. There are no words:

Holy fuck. I still can't believe he did that. Noah's gained so much respect from Chicago fans throughout this series and that was definitely the exclamation point. I guess I can finally forgive him for this:

Anyway, back to the second huge play from last night. It would have to be the defensive stop that D.Rose put up against Rajon Rondo on the Celtics last real chance to tie up the game. I knew he had it in him. Not only were the Bulls finally able to put the clamps down on Rondo, but hopefully his struggles will continue in Game 7. Check the D:

I'm definitely proud of my Bulls but our job is definitely not over. We've proven that we can not only play with the Celtics, but we can win in Boston. Game 7 should be extra wavy. Seriously. Max B agrees ↓ ↓

The Bulls Hold On In Game 4/Shawn Nelson to the Bills

Photobucket

Game Four between my Bulls and the Boston Celtics was definitely one of the best games I've seen all year....but only because we ended up winning. The Bulls/Celtics series proved again today why it was the best series of the first round of the NBA Playoffs. I mean, damn. The match-ups have been insane: D.Rose and Rajon Rondo, [college teammates/best friends] Tyrus Thomas and Big Baby, Ben Gordon and Jesus Shuttlesworth. Epic match-ups. [Good thing KG's not playing...] All in all, I'm glad we were able to pull out the W in double OT even after valiant attempts from the new Big Three: P.Double, Ray Ray and Rondo. But we still knocked em out like:
Photobucket

Owww.

And I gotta give another shout out to my boy Shawn Nelson for getting picked up by the Buffalo Bills today. He should be an instant deep threat [Pause.] along with T.O. and Josh Reed. Yeah, Josh Reed. Whoa. First Putt, now Shawn, I guess I have some new teams to follow.

Photobucket

[Note: Draft Overview coming soon. At first glance, I feel like the Eagles might have had one of the strongest showings this year. We'll see.]

Shh...the Bulls are on!

Game 1 of the series against Boston is on and we're looking pretty good. D.Rose is hitting his shots and distributing the ball well [15 and 6 in the first half.] Ben Gordon is on point like always. These KG-less Celtics are definitely beatable. Oww.

You already know.

And I'm back...

Midterms and Homecoming got me off my awr game, but I'm back.

Aight,
-LSU and Ohio State lost.
-Texas (1) and Texas Tech (5) play this weekend.
-The NBA kicked off the regular season last night and my boys (Kobe, Lebron and D.Rose) had solid games....but the highlight of the night was Paul Pierce fucking crying at the ring ceremony.
-The Phillies ended up winning the World Series last night. [But...who cares??]

That's pretty much for sports until the weekend and I'm still pretty bummed that LSU is out of both the SEC and NCAA title races.....but at least we're not Auburn...

Auburn, you lose.

Where Were We??

A lot has happened in this last month so let's recap:

-Barack Obama was able to slide past Hillary and recieve the Democratic nomination. Yab.
-The Lakers Kobe ended up losing to the Celtics...and Shaq tried to rap rapped about it.

-R.Kelly got off free as shit. Wtf?? I think my man Human Resource at Start Snitching put it the funniest when he said, "I wonder what would have happened if [Michael] Vick had an underage female Fight Club and R. Kelly was raping dogs?" Classic.

-We snatched up Derrick Rose with the first pick in the draft. I was leaning towards Beasley since we have so many guards but we couldn't really lose with either. Check out this play from his high school days at Simeon. I can't f'ing wait for NBA 2K9.
This is high school, mind you.

-Wayne sold a million+ in the first week. Hot damn. I guess I need to stop hating.
[Note: That's not gonna happen.]

That pretty much brings us up to speed. That wasn't too hard.

...that's what she said.

The Stage Is Set.

Finally.
The match-up that we hoped for is going to happen: Lakers/Celtics in the Finals. Any other year I would be happy to go with KG, Truth and Jesus to win it because they're all more than deserving, but....not against The Lakers Kobe. I'm goin Lakers in 6. Let's go.

Conference Finals Recap

Yeah, fell behind on the last couple days.

The Lakers won a big Game 4 in San Antonio to take a commanding 3-1 lead over the Spurs as they head back to LA for the elimination game. This was a huge road win as the Spurs have never come back from a 3-1 disadvantage to win a playoff series. Kobe dropped 28 and 10 against Timmy's 29 and 17. Derek Fisher's "foul" against Brent Barry was a good no-call that didn't cost the Lakers the game even after poor execution at the end of the game. I'm definitely looking for LA to end the series tonight at home.
Kobefest 08 continues.
[Note: Timmy will be making this same face after Game 5 tonight haha]

Meanwhile...Boston defeated Detroit last night to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Ray Ray came back after struggling with 29 big points, KG had 33 and Kendrick Perkins surprised everyone by stacking a double-double in the first half. The Pistons are making it hard as hell to cheer for them and I've officially lost interest in the Eastern Conference until the Bulls make their pick in the draft. Yup.

Go Bulls.

Damn Detroit!!

Man I've never been a Pistons fan [because I hate them] but ever since the Celtics beat the Cavs Lebron last round, I have been hoping they would get beat in the East. They won the first game against Detroit, but after Detroit beat them in game two in Boston, things were looking good for the Pistons.

Then what do they do??
Lose game three in Detroit!!

KG dropped 22, 13 and 6 and the Big Three for Boston had half of their team's 97 points.
I'm trying everything in my power to cheer for a team that I've hated my entire life, but they can't take advantage of stealing home court advantage.

Oh well, onto the Lakers.

Game three is tonight and I can realistically see the Lakers Kobe winning game three in San Antonio and really taking control over the series. That is, of course, because I also hate the Spurs. Look for the MVP to score 25+ in an 8 point Laker victory.

And then he'll jump over a school bus full of poisonous spiders. Yurp.
