Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer returned to Utah for the first time since becoming members of the best team in sports history Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. Who would predict that Korver and Brewer would be the difference makers??? Well, that and Derrick Rose going for 29, 7 and three. Check the highlights:
Note: Actually....NBA.com won't let me embed the highlight video from last night...
But you can catch the highlights here. What was that you were saying Nick Batum???
On the college side, Duke overcame 16 points to jealous North Carolina last night. Nolan Smith went all J.J. Redick and went for 35. Young Seth added a career-high 22. I guess even with Kyrie, all's well on Tobacco Road.
By now we've all heard Charlie Villanueva's accusations that Kevin Garnett called him a "cancer patient" during a recent Celtics/Pistons game. First off, I don't condone any statements that are insensitive to the struggle that people with cancer go through. I have family members that have struggled with the disease and it's nothing to take lightly. Secondly, Garnett did release a statement saying that his words were twisted and he actually said Villanueva was "cancerous to his team and the league."
Now something just ain't right. I played sports growing up, I've been in the heat of battle and I've even said/done things during the moment but I refuse to believe that KG used the choice of words contained in his statement. Like seriously, it's just not something you would say going up for a rebound. But at the same time, Charlie....COME ON SON. You broke both Man Code and Athlete Code by publicly commenting about something that was or wasn't said during battle. If Garnett did call him a cancer patient, he was undoubtedly wrong, especially with Villanueva's condition but that's something you should really handle with him one-on-one.
This should not have been national news. Period. KG's still my man and we'll probably never know what was/wasn't said.
The last 6 months have arguably been some of the busiest and most trying, although most successful months of my life. And for that, I'm grateful. A new city, new job, new crib, everything. Totally blessed and really excited with everything. With that being said, it's time to get back to business. The business is blogging and business is....slow. Well it has been. I'm turning it around today. With so many big things going on in my life, it's only right. So, I'm back.
In preparation for this weekend's showdown with #3 Boise State, the coaching staff of #24 Oregon State has decided to paint their practice field blue to resemble the Broncos' playing field. Wait, what??
I mean, it seems like a good idea at first but is this REALLY going to prepare you for a team that's averaged 500+ yards of offense per game, scored 42 points per game, allowed only 18 points per game and has a starting quarterback with a 28-1 record at home??
It's pretty common for NFL rookies to get hazed, and Tim Tebow is no different. This year veterans decided to a cut rookies' hair and Tebow's is um....shitty. And even as a die-hard LSU fan, I've always been able to stand Tebow. This, my friend, is for you a Coach Ford.
Ownd.
Timmy, THIS is when you cry. But then again, it kinda has a Tim Tebow/ a Friar Tuck kinda look.
As much as it pains me to say, I was rooting for Lebron and the Cavs to win the Championship this year after they knocked off my Bulls but ever since they went out, the playoffs have been BORING. Each round I've found myself saying, "Man, this round sucks but next round bout to be dope." I've been disappointed each time. Take these conference semis for example. Going in, I was thinking both the Lakers/Suns and the Magic/Celtics had the chance to be epic...but I was wrong. There were, however, a couple of highlights from last night's game, such as the death of Grant Hill's ankles:
My Response:
And for your gif image pleasure:
Another crazy highlight was Shannon Brown's near epic/fatal posterization of Jason Richardson:
That picture looks Photoshopped like shit....but it's not.
And the last, and possibly funniest image from last night's game was....AC Green??
He had a striking resemblance to this sketch from the Chris Rock Show:
Even though it's only been one game each, I think the Conference Finals are over and we're set for a Lakers/Celtics rematch. I'm sure that will leave Steve Kerr and all the Suns fans feeling like this:
I haven't been blogging much lately due to work, work and oh yeah...work. But I couldn't pass up the chance at posting this. Apparently this 17-year-old Phillies fan thought it would be a good idea to run onto the field during last night's game. It was probably the worst mistake he's ever made. Just look:
The Miami Heat were able to avoid being swept by the Boston Celtics by relying on their proven leader, Dwyane Wade. Wade had his best playoff game ever after going off for 46, 5 and 5. But none of his buckets were any bigger than this one:
EGHCK, KG. EGHCK.
Good win for the Heat and also [and more importantly] D.Wade's contract for next year. Pay-Per.
The draft started as predicted with Sam Bradford, Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy going with the first three picks...but then it got a little, eh, weird. I was happy to see Eric Berry go to the Chiefs where he should make an immediate impact with two former LSU standouts in Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson. Who could pass on adding THIS ↓↓ to their defense????
Yea. Dopeness. I was always a fan of Eric Berry over Taylor Mays but I thought it was a slap in the face that Seattle and Pete Carroll chose safety Earl Thomas instead of his former player. I was also surprised he didn't go to one of the four teams [excluding Detroit] to join already elite safeties. Butttt I guess his speed wasn't enough to make him a first-rounder. Oh well. I definitely like the Bills move getting C.J. Spiller with the 9th pick.
Crazy athlete, should make an immediate impact to an offense that will need it. I'm not gonna lie though, the Tebow pick by Denver was pretty much the strangest of all the picks in the first round. They actually traded UP to make it happen. I guess we'll have to wait to see if this turns out to be one of the biggest flops or steals in draft history.
Other Wins:
Joe Haden - CB / Cleveland Browns [7th]
Rolando McClain - LB / Oakland Raiders [8th]
Jason Pierre-Paul - DE / NY Jets [15th]
Derrick Morgan - DE / Tennessee Titans [16th]
Dez Bryant - WR / Dallas Cowboys [24th]
Other WTFs:
Tyson Alualu - DT / Jacksonville Jaguars [10th]
Devin McCourty - CB / New England Patriots [27th]
Kyle Wilson - CB / NY Jets [29th]
Who Knows:
Tim Tebow - QB/TE/RB/Idk / Denver Broncos [25th]
Sean Weatherspoon - LB / Atlanta [19th]
Demaryius Thomas - WR / Denver Broncos [22nd]
Biggest fail thus far has been Jimmy Clausen. Originally thought to be a top 10 pick by even Mel Kiper, he's still undrafted going into day two. Jealous'd. I was never sold on him and apparently neither were most of the NFL teams. Oh well. Maybe THIS ↓↓ picture had something to do with it...?? #cmonson
Welp, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has laid down the law:
Four to six game suspension for violating NFL personal conduct policy.
Steelers reportedly shopping offers for possible trades.
And he wasn't even charged.
Oh well. I mean, this is pretty much Roethlisberger's third of fourth offense in the past three or four years. After he got off without being charged with a crime, I was almost positive that he'd get a one or two game suspension. Welp, asamp was wrong. This should show that the commish is NOT playing and any and everyone should settle the fuck down behave.
The NBA playoffs have started off pretty much disgusting...and according to most people's plans. But not mine. I was REALLY fucking hoping predicted that the Bulls could at least strike some sort of fear in the Cavs this year; no such luck. My main upset for the first round was the Heat over the Celtics...we all saw how last night turned out. And that was WITHOUT KG. And then we have the Thunder. I thought that the youngest scoring champ in history could at least do a little damage against even the Lakers. NO DICE. I'm starting to reconsider changing the name of this blog to asamp was wrong.
And I hate to be wrong.
Come on BullsThunderHeat, don't jealous me and all the upset seekers.
[Note: The Bucks are also down 0-2 to the Hawks but I saw that one coming.]
FREE Pancakes. Sounds like the unjealous to me. "Where," you ask. IHOP. They do this once a year as a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network that earns money for children's hospitals. So yea, grab a free short stack and support sick children all at once.
I don't know what to say. Seriously, I'm at a loss for words. And that doesn't happen often. We started the week by losing to the "worst team in NBA history" then follow it up by getting DRUG by the Hawks in Atlanta. This makes no sense. We're the third most valuable team in the league and we're still performing like this. We've actually lost our last four games to the Cavs, Raptors, Nets and Hawks. It's embarrassing, really. So after this week of disappointments, I'm continuing my ongoing push to get Lebron to Chicago next year. Why go to the Knicks?? Don't go to sorry ass New Jersey. Come to the historic Chicago Bulls. I mean, either you or Chris Bosh. #kanyeshrug
Once again...this shit's not gonna cut it.
We play the Warriors tonight and I really can't take a 5th straight loss.
I really can't have another sports weekend like this past weekend.
First, LSU goes and loses to Ole Miss. Jealous'd. Then, the Bears lost to the Eagles in Chicago. Jealous'd2. And then, to round things out, the Bulls go to Portland and get embarrassed by the Blazers. Jealous'd3.
This really can't happen again. I'm tired of looking like this when I watch SportsCenter:
By now, we all know what Kanye did to Taylor Swift at the VMAs and I'm pretty much tired of hearing of how wrong he was for doing what he did. Can you really be mad at someone for speaking their mind?? Sure, his actions were a little misguided but about half of that bottle of Henn and a couple rubs on Amber Rose's booty meat will have that effect on you. We really need to get over this shit. Like now.
'Ye was on Jay Leno last night where he discussed Sunday's incident. It was a pretty brief interview but I feel like Jay went a little too far asking about his mom and how she would feel. Whoa, man. It's never too soon to bring up someone's deceased parent. 'Ye seemed genuinely remorseful for his actions but...that doesn't mean he don't do it again. But who cares? I mean, he DID apologize.
And the best part was Jay & Rihanna coming out for Run This Town. Aughh.
I mean, Rihanna still can't sing but still an ill performance.
First off, [LATE PASS.] Secondly, say it ain't so.
Christoper "Kid" Reid [of Kid 'N Play] has been reduced to....selling SUITS??? But wait, these ain't no JoS. A. Bank suits, either. They're not Men's Warehouse. They're not even K&G suits! He's selling suits for SW SUITS in CARSON, CALIFORNIA!!!?? Apparently, these suits are perfect for when "you're tryin to take your lady out, tryin to take your mother out" or for when "one of your homeboys gets SHOT." Wow, Kid. I guess he had "things to do" and he "couldn't wear shorts and flip flops."
Yesterday was going great: Church was awesome, shot some really good scenes for the movie, got a nice little bite to eat. Perfect little Sunday, right?? Wrong. On the way home I got JEALOUS'D by the police and got pulled over. He claimed I drove right through a stop sign and clearly I didn't. Anyway, this is a film interpretation of what essentially happened:
So yea, that's pretty much what happened. Except there was only one cop and he was Black. When he asked where I lived I should have said, "A small town called 'Fresh of a cop's ass. And you're makin me home sick.'"
No real reason to post this other than it's funny as hell. This dude Michael Blackson still has me dyin...even nine years later. "And I don't have no damn cover, kiss my ass. So what?" The funniest part is probably 1:04 and he's not even on-screen. I know you remember this shit.
