Eli Manning...Blah Blah Blah

Photobucket
Sure, he's playing some of the best football of his career. And yeah, he's headed to a second Superbowl.

But Eli Manning [and his brother, Peyton] makes some weird ass faces. And therefore this website is forever relevant. Thanks, Manning brothers.

Nike Set to (Re)Revolutionize the NFL?

Photobucket
Now that Nike is set to reclaim the spot as the official outfitter for the NFL next year, there's already speculation that NFL teams will undergo dramatic changes to their traditional designs. Everything I've read, however, [mainly Uni-Watch.com--dope site btw] has said that most teams will probably only see changes in material and actual tailoring next season. Either way, they've already started to generate hype via this promo featuring none other than Michael Irving:

I'm stoked that this is happening. Reebok's pretty boring overall and Nike has made great strides in jersey designs on the collegiate level. But even with that being said, there's zero chance that we'll see anything along the lines of those fake joints that surfaced last year.

One Last NFL Post...

Photobucket
Now that the Bears aren't in the running for the Superbowl, I could really care less about how this season ends. So with my final post of the 2010-2011 NFL season, I bring you Brett Favre: What Should I Do?

Even though that was funny as hell, I promise that this is my first and last Brett Favre post.

Sunday's Best Featuring Bears/Cowboys & Jets/Pats

Photobucket
First off, shouts to the Bears. After last weeks loss close game win the Lions, not many people thought we would hang with the Cowboys yesterday. And we won. One of the main reasons we won was this amazing one-handed catch courtesy of Devin Hester:

Oooh, that's nasty. [Wayne voice]

But the defense really played well as did Jay Cutler. The Cowboys have to be nervous now after going 0-2. Superbowl, what Superbowl?? Wade Phillips is definitely showing sadness today.
Photobucket

The other play that caught my attention was the insane one-hander from Randy Moss versus the Jets:
Photobucket
The ONLY reason I'm putting the Hester catch over Moss' is because we won our game....but that's fair right???

One other thing, I'm not sure if Vick is for real about being cool with being Kolb's back up but I AM glad he balled out against Detroit yesterday. I hope he gets to keep the starting spot.

Saints/Niners tonight. Hopefully we have a good good.
Don't bet on it though.

Ray Lewis Will Kill You.

Photobucket
...no, that's not a bad joke. He really will kill you.

Arguably one of the best linebackers in NFL history shows Dustin Keller exactly why you never cross the middle when you're playing the Baltimore Ravens.

ZERO. REGARD. FOR. HUMAN. LIFE.

This gives me flashbacks from last year's Ochocinco hit.

Moral of the story: Don't fuck mess with Ray Lewis.

So What?? The Bears Still Won!

Photobucket
Yeah I know...it was a struggle. And yeah, I also know it was against the turrible Lions. And yeah, I ALSO know that that probably would have been called a catch in most games...but not this one. In case you don't know what "catch" I'm talking about, here you go:
Bullet dodged. I mean, take it as you will, but people are saying it was the right call. I like Calvin Johnson, I like Ndamukong Suh. But I'm a Bears fan. And where I'm from, a win is a win is a...guess what, WIN.
Hey Lions fans:

[Note: Coming soon is my post about my first ever Redskins/Cowboys game in DC. Wild time.]

Tim Tebow Lost One.

Photobucket
It's pretty common for NFL rookies to get hazed, and Tim Tebow is no different. This year veterans decided to a cut rookies' hair and Tebow's is um....shitty. And even as a die-hard LSU fan, I've always been able to stand Tebow. This, my friend, is for you a Coach Ford.
Photobucket
Ownd.

Timmy, THIS is when you cry.
But then again, it kinda has a Tim Tebow/ a Friar Tuck kinda look.

But still....ownd.

If We Could Go Back...

Photobucket
Oftentimes I have random mind-ramblings. It might be about something I read, something I saw on tv or something I had a conversation about. A lot of times I think back about these events and I say "Damn, if I could go back, ______." These random mind trips have gone undocumented until now.

Well, I was listening to Chillin by Wale and I got to the line "You niggas mad that you not me/I remain a Giant and you Jeremy Shockey..." You know, this part. I always liked the line, but it got me to thinking. Jeremy Shockey is a pretty wild dude. Great player, but he's now a New Orleans Saint. Then I remembered that the craziest of all crazy New Orleans Saints was KYLE TURLEY. If we could go back to this, I'm sure we'd detect very large amounts of ACID in his bloodstream:

I know that was pretty random and I'm not even mad at Kyle Turley. I just hope that my friends would do the same for me.

Acid or no acid.

[Note: They would.]

Quick NFL Draft Breakdown [First Round]

Photobucket
Cue Lil Wayne's Money On My Mind...

The draft started as predicted with Sam Bradford, Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy going with the first three picks...but then it got a little, eh, weird. I was happy to see Eric Berry go to the Chiefs where he should make an immediate impact with two former LSU standouts in Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson. Who could pass on adding THIS ↓↓ to their defense????
Photobucket
Yea. Dopeness. I was always a fan of Eric Berry over Taylor Mays but I thought it was a slap in the face that Seattle and Pete Carroll chose safety Earl Thomas instead of his former player. I was also surprised he didn't go to one of the four teams [excluding Detroit] to join already elite safeties. Butttt I guess his speed wasn't enough to make him a first-rounder. Oh well. I definitely like the Bills move getting C.J. Spiller with the 9th pick.
Photobucket
Crazy athlete, should make an immediate impact to an offense that will need it. I'm not gonna lie though, the Tebow pick by Denver was pretty much the strangest of all the picks in the first round. They actually traded UP to make it happen. I guess we'll have to wait to see if this turns out to be one of the biggest flops or steals in draft history.

Other Wins:
  • Joe Haden - CB / Cleveland Browns [7th]
  • Rolando McClain - LB / Oakland Raiders [8th]
  • Jason Pierre-Paul - DE / NY Jets [15th]
  • Derrick Morgan - DE / Tennessee Titans [16th]
  • Dez Bryant - WR / Dallas Cowboys [24th]
Other WTFs:
  • Tyson Alualu - DT / Jacksonville Jaguars [10th]
  • Devin McCourty - CB / New England Patriots [27th]
  • Kyle Wilson - CB / NY Jets [29th]
Who Knows:
  • Tim Tebow - QB/TE/RB/Idk / Denver Broncos [25th]
  • Sean Weatherspoon - LB / Atlanta [19th]
  • Demaryius Thomas - WR / Denver Broncos [22nd]
Photobucket
Biggest fail thus far has been Jimmy Clausen. Originally thought to be a top 10 pick by even Mel Kiper, he's still undrafted going into day two. Jealous'd. I was never sold on him and apparently neither were most of the NFL teams. Oh well. Maybe THIS ↓↓ picture had something to do with it...?? #cmonson

Drew Brees' Madden 11 Cover Debuts in Times Square

Photobucket
Sorry for the low-quality photo, but the fans have spoken: Drew Brees is the Madden 11 Cover athlete. I'm not a Saints fan by any stretch of the imagination but Brees is much-deserving of the cover. But damn son....Madden Curse much???
Photobucket
I hope Breezus can avoid that Madden Curse.
I guess we'll see September 9th.

Ben Roethlisberger Catches the JEALOUS

Photobucket
Welp, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has laid down the law:
  • Four to six game suspension for violating NFL personal conduct policy.
  • Steelers reportedly shopping offers for possible trades.
  • And he wasn't even charged.

Oh well. I mean, this is pretty much Roethlisberger's third of fourth offense in the past three or four years. After he got off without being charged with a crime, I was almost positive that he'd get a one or two game suspension. Welp, asamp was wrong. This should show that the commish is NOT playing and any and everyone should settle the fuck down behave.

Westbrook Released Too?!

Photobucket
A day after LaDainian Tomlinson was released from the Chargers, veteran Eagles running back Brian Westbrook has been cut by his longtime team. I'm not sure what his future is going to look like but I'm sure he'll find another team. It's kind of crazy that two of the league's best running backs over the last decade are both looking for new teams. Best luck to Brian Westbrook.

[Note: Bears front office...Do something. I'm SAYIN.]

What's Next for LT??

Photobucket
When news broke yesterday that the San Diego Chargers had released LaDainian Tomlinson, I wasn't really surprised...mainly because he said it would happen weeks ago. The reasons he was traded are obvious, he was owed a $2 million roster bonus and $5 million in total salary next year after career lows in both total yards [730] and yards per carry [3.3]. Yikes. The only real question left to be answered is "Where will LT go next??" So where could he go:
  • New England Patriots
Even though the rich would pretty much be getting richer, LT would make sense as a 10-15 down back in an offense that already is full of weapons. He could team up well with Brady and Moss and Belichick has been good at working with veterans.
  • Chicago Bears
This one hasn't really been reported [at all] but I would love to see it happen. Tomlinson could draw the attention needed to take pressure off of Jay Cutler. In addition to Mike Martz as the OC, LT could be a great teacher for Matt Forte, Kahlil Bell and Adrian Peterson, all promising backs.
  • Philadelphia Eagles
I can really see this move happening. Even though the Eagles won't give him the entire $5 mil he's expecting, they would be able to make a pretty good offer to LT. Add him to the young talent at running back in McCoy and experience in veteran Brian Westbrook, and you could have a pretty deep backfield. Only problem is Tomlinson + Westbrook = this.
[Update: Brian Westbrook has also been released. Yikes.]
  • New Orleans Saints
My final possible destination for LT is the New Orleans Saints. He played earlier in his career with current Saints quarterback Drew Brees and it would land him with a definite championship contender. Plus, with the depth that New Orleans has at the position Tomlinson wouldn't be forced to carry the most of the load at running back.

What ever happens for LT, he is sure to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer and definitely remembered as one of the best running backs in league history. Not only that, but he has a been a hard-working class act since he came in the league. Gotta wish LT the best.

Championship Game Predictions [Better Late Than Never]

Photobucket
Really quick: I know the Jets are already up 7-6 over the Colts but I'm still going Colts/Vikings in the SuperBowl. Ariiiiite.

[Note: This picture has nothing to do with the NFL Playoffs, it's just funny as hell.]

R.I.P. Gaines Adams

Photobucket
Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams passed away this morning at the age of 26. After an accomplished collegiate career at Clemson, Adams was drafted by the Buccaneers with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft. He was then traded to the Chicago Bears on October 19, 2009. An autopsy revealed that Adams suffered from an enlarged heart which led to cardiac arrest. His family members were unaware that he suffered from any serious medical conditions. His death was sudden and tragic and my prayers go out to his family. Not only was Gaines Adams a good football player, but he was a good person on and off the field. He's most famous for this play against Wake Forest back during his time at Clemson.
Rest in Peace.

R.I.P. Chris Henry

Photobucket

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry passed away this morning a day after falling from truck following an argument with his fiance. The situation is really messed up especially after Henry was turning his troubled life around since his rough 2007 season. Henry was given a second chance by the Bengals and seemed to have positively taken advantage of the opportunity. He even got the word "Blessed" tattooed on his neck before the 2009 season.

In a preseason interview with the Associated Press Henry was quoted as saying, "I kind of felt like I dug myself out of the hole and started doing the right things. People say, 'How you feeling now Chris? You doing all right?' I just tell them I'm blessed. That's why I got it."

He was 26.

LSU Had a Bye-Week...

...so I took one too.

College Football was kind of boring and predictable this weekend anyway. I ended up watching Varsity Blues instead. #kanyeshrug.

I'll be back with the football news next weekend but in the meantime.....GO BEARS.

Giants Win an Ugly One in Dallas...

Photobucket
It was actually a pretty exciting game. The only real ugly part of the game was the screen shot of Eli that I got afterwards. [Wow.] The prettiest thing was the DAM stadium. Holy shit. A record-setting 105,000+ people attended the regular-season home opener at the brand new Cowboys Stadium and they really got a show. Romo's lows and Eli's highs were the story of the game. Romo just looked uncomfortable the whole game. Even with 251 yards on the ground, Dallas had three picks and a fumble that resulted in 24 points for the G-Men and proved to be the deciding factor. The Player of the Game in my opinion had to be Mario Manningham who finished with 10 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown. [Plaxico who??] Who saw that shit coming?? Chad Henne maybe??? Anyway, great game from both sides but the Giants proved that they could win the tough one on the road. Can't say I expected anything else. Here's how it ended:
Other NFL News:
  • The Bears scored late to defeat the defending Champion Steelers in their home opener. Ariiite.
  • The Bengals surprised the Slackers in Green Bay, 31-24
  • Mark "Matt Ryan Jr." Sanchez was able to defend the home field against the Patriots. Yowzers.
  • The Saints jealous'd/embarrassed the Eagles in Philly, 48-22
  • The Redskins managed to beat the lowly Rams without scoring a touchdown, and
  • The Panthers fell to the Falcons after a late near-TD fell incomplete.

[Note: I started off watching the Dallas/New York game at the bar but watched the second half on my computer with NFL.com's new HD player. And the shit is DOPE. The video is clear as hell and it has four dope views. Peep the screenshot. Next time you can't get the game, check it out on your computer. Aughh.]

Chad Ochocinco is a Wild Dude...

Photobucket
So I'm in the crib watching Mean Girls [no cable in the new crib, cut me some slack] and then I started hearing about Chad Ochocinco kicking an extra point in the Bengals' preseason game against the Patriots. [Shouts to @BdotLaw for being the first to RT.] Is there nothing this guy can't do?? I wish the NFL didn't suck ass and would allow touchdown celebrations. There's no telling what this dude would come up with.
But the hate HAD to come from somewhere...
Photobucket
smh.

Buuuuuut....Skip did reply to my @ message via DM. I can't front like I wasn't hype like shit.
