Music of the Moment - May 31, 2008

So far, all of my Music of the Moment posts have featured artists from England, and the group Apartment is no different. I first heard of the band while playing FIFA 08 on ps3. Their song "Fall Into Place" is featured on the soundtrack to the game and has been in heavy rotation on the computer and in the whip. Although its been almost a year since the song was first released, its definitely still worth a listen. Check it out and also check out the FIFA Soundtrack. Joint is sick.

The Stage Is Set.

Finally.
The match-up that we hoped for is going to happen: Lakers/Celtics in the Finals. Any other year I would be happy to go with KG, Truth and Jesus to win it because they're all more than deserving, but....not against The Lakers Kobe. I'm goin Lakers in 6. Let's go.

Lil Wayne feat. Jay-Z - Mr. Carter

Aight, so if you know know me you know that I'm not the biggest Lil Wayne fan. But I am a huge Hov fan. This is a new joint with both of them that I'm almost positive will be on Carter 3. Let me know what you think.

Flashing Lights Video Pt. 3

This is the third installment from the Flashing Lights series. This is the first video to really feature Kanye as the main character. I'm feelin this joint. Yurp.

Kobefest 08

[Note: PLEASE click the picture above.]
Come on Lakers Kobe. END the Spurs' season tonight...and I'm out.

PS: The Bulls are this close to snagging Doug Collins as Head Coach. I'm down.

Conference Finals Recap

Yeah, fell behind on the last couple days.

The Lakers won a big Game 4 in San Antonio to take a commanding 3-1 lead over the Spurs as they head back to LA for the elimination game. This was a huge road win as the Spurs have never come back from a 3-1 disadvantage to win a playoff series. Kobe dropped 28 and 10 against Timmy's 29 and 17. Derek Fisher's "foul" against Brent Barry was a good no-call that didn't cost the Lakers the game even after poor execution at the end of the game. I'm definitely looking for LA to end the series tonight at home.
Kobefest 08 continues.
[Note: Timmy will be making this same face after Game 5 tonight haha]

Meanwhile...Boston defeated Detroit last night to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Ray Ray came back after struggling with 29 big points, KG had 33 and Kendrick Perkins surprised everyone by stacking a double-double in the first half. The Pistons are making it hard as hell to cheer for them and I've officially lost interest in the Eastern Conference until the Bulls make their pick in the draft. Yup.

Go Bulls.

Lakers Lose to Spurs in Game 3

Man...The Lakers Kobe couldn't get it done tonight. The Spurs just had too much firepower. Ginobili came back hard with 30 and Timmy dropped 22 and had 21 rebounds. Kobe had 30 of his own but the Lakers still got pwnd 84-103. I wish we could have gotten that 3-0 lead but we'll bounce back in game 4.
[Note: We definitely could have used Jack in San Antonio.]

Damn Noah...

<-------Was this an early sign??

According to espn.com Joakim Noah, of the Chicago Bulls, was arrested May 25th at 1:50 am and the former University of Florida star was charged with possession of marijuana and an having an open container of alcohol in public. This negro must be on his Josh Howard now that the Bulls snatched the first pick in the draft. I'm one of the guys that was confused by the Bulls picking him up with the 9th overall pick last year but after his performance this year, I was pleasantly suprised. The article also said that Noah could face up to SIX months in jail because of the charges. [Even though he won't.] Hope he can bounce back and stop tryin to get his Calvin Johnson on.

Go Bulls.

Damn Detroit!!

Man I've never been a Pistons fan [because I hate them] but ever since the Celtics beat the Cavs Lebron last round, I have been hoping they would get beat in the East. They won the first game against Detroit, but after Detroit beat them in game two in Boston, things were looking good for the Pistons.

Then what do they do??
Lose game three in Detroit!!

KG dropped 22, 13 and 6 and the Big Three for Boston had half of their team's 97 points.
I'm trying everything in my power to cheer for a team that I've hated my entire life, but they can't take advantage of stealing home court advantage.

Oh well, onto the Lakers.

Game three is tonight and I can realistically see the Lakers Kobe winning game three in San Antonio and really taking control over the series. That is, of course, because I also hate the Spurs. Look for the MVP to score 25+ in an 8 point Laker victory.

And then he'll jump over a school bus full of poisonous spiders. Yurp.

Kobe x Jackass - Hyperdunk Pt. 2

My boy Austin was with me the first time we caught the video of Kobe jumping over the Aston Martin and he was the one that put me on to the latest installment. This marketing for Nike is wild.

Hahaha @ 0:47

[Note: I said the first video was fake and I'm pretty sure this one is too...shit's still hot though.]

Flashing Lights Video Pt. 2

It's not really part two of the first video, but it's the second video released for the song. Completely different concept, but still a dope video. Oh, and the girl is bad.

Coldplay Does It Again

Mannn I can't wait for Coldplay to release Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. The new commercial they did for iTunes has the title track so I had to post it. The album drops June 17 in America and they'll be in Atlanta for my birthday weekend. [Feel free to get me some b-day tix.....Lexi :)]

Might as well include "Violet Hill." The album is gonna be siiiiick.

Lakers/Spurs Game 2

Don't call it a comeback.

The Lakers beat PWND the Spurs 101-71 to go ahead 2-0 in the Western Conference Finals. Kobe led all scorers and had 22, 5 and 5 along with 20 and 12 from Lamar "Lucky Lefty" Odom and a surprise 14 from Jordan Farmar. If the Lakers continue to play the way they did tonight, I don't think the Spurs are gonna make it past five games.

Oh well.
Go Lakers Kobe.

[Note: Celtics/Pistons Game 3 tomorrow night. Go...Pistons?? Damn, that's hard to say.]

Music of the Moment - May 23, 2008

Crystal Castles is a Toronto-based electronica group consisting of instrumentalist Ethan Kath and vocalist Alice Glass. The sound is incomparable and they're known as much for their remixes of songs as they are for their own. Named after the Crystal Castle from the She-Ra video game, the band samples sounds and voices from video games and other media for their songs. My favorite joint from them is "Alice Practice" which is known as an accidental recording. Check it out here:

It took some effort but I was able to find their Crimewave video. Yurp.

Speaking of Seeing Sounds...

Somebody edited the "Everyone Nose" video to make a Remix video. I'm sure you've heard it by now: Nerd x Kanye x Lupe x Pusha = YES.
It's rather hard. Enjoy.

N.E.R.D.- Seeing Sounds Album Artwork

I know these have been out for awhile, but I just started this blog yesterday so YAB!!. I'm tryin to see the inside jawns though, but whatever they look sick.
[Note: How long have we been waiting for this album??]

Movie To Watch For

One of my favorite young actors, Shia LaBeouf, is teaming up with Disturbia director D.J. Caruso to bring us Eagle Eye. According to wikipedia, Jerry Shaw [LaBeouf] returns home after the mysterious death of his successful twin brother. He and a single mother, Rachel Holloman [Michelle Monaghan] find out that they have been framed as terrorists, and they are coerced into becoming members of a cell tasked to assassinate a politician. It's messed up that we have to wait til September to see this. Just check the preview:

Siiiiiick.

The film also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Rosario Dawson and Michael Chiklis.
Tell a friend to tell a friend.

Kenna x Lupe - Say Goodbye To Love Remix

I saw this on my girl Heather's page at herfection and I had to post it. It's been a minute since the album dropped but this joint is siiiick.

Music of the Moment - May 22, 2008

These last couple of years I've been listening to a larger spectrum of music in an attempt to broaden my knowledge of music beyond Hip Hop. In comes Does It Offend You, Yeah?, a British electro-rock band from Reading. To me they sound like a mix between Daft Punk, Bloc Party and Justice. Their versatility and overall sound set them apart from other bands I'm listening to right now. Their debut just dropped in America and it's definitely worth a listen. Check out the video for their most recent single "Epic Last Song" and their MySpace page. [www.myspace.com/doesitoffendyou]

KOBE/ManU

I had a hell of a (sports) day yesterday.

First, the Mighty ManU defeats Chelsea to win the Champions League crown after extra time and penalty kicks. My man Cristiano Ronaldo almost went from being the hero to the clown after he scored ManU's only goal but missed his PK. Van der Sar came up big with the block on Nicolas Anelka to secure the win after he bated him into the shot. [video:

And don't even get me started on Drogba's dumb ass slapping Vidic and getting ejected from the biggest game of his life...oh well. ManU babyyy!!

Now on to my man Kobe...
First Half: 2 points off of three shots.
Second Half: 25 points off of 18 shots.
Wow.

Ginobili held to 10 points. Oh well.
Timmy still kinda went off but the Lakers got the W in the end.
Still hate the Spurs...except Rob.

AND the Bulls got the first pick in the draft. Hell of a day.

New Beginnings

It seems like yesterday that I was getting my high school diploma and now I'm on the verge of my final year at Morehouse College. It's been a long time coming and these have been three of the best years of my life, but it's definitely gone by too fast. I decided to finally start this blog (after much deliberation) as a way to vent and get out my ideas and part as a way to keep in touch with friends after we graduate. I'm gonna touch on everything from sports, music, education, movies and pretty much everything else. Stay tuned.
