I Don't Know Why, But This Is Still Funny To Me...

Photobucket
First off, Aries Spears is a funny dude. Second off....so is R. Kelly. I was reading The Blowtorch blog last night and somehow came across R. Kelly's video for The World's Greatest. But of course the only thing I could think of was Aries Spears' Greatest Statutory Rapist version. Whoops.
No shots Kells.

But even you know this shit is funny.

Two Reasons I Can't Listen to the Album Version of Heartless

Photobucket
I was riding to 808's & Heartbreak yesterday and I got to Heartless but I couldn't even listen to it all the way through without thinking of these two versions. The first is a drum cover but the kid is niiiiiice. Never really heard a drummer cover a song so well since Travis Barker did it...twice. I mean three times. But remember, this time it's a KID. Just to see how nice his is, check out his Viva La Vida cover he did. Dope. The second version was by the band The Fray. They did an acoustic cover while on BBC's Live Lounge Radio 1 show. Also quite dope. I pretty much listened to both of these versions all summer last year but I felt like bringing em back. Check em out.

Damn, I love covers.

Music of the Moment - March 29, 2010

Photobucket
So, this song's definitely not new but it's Music Monday and I've been playing it nonstop for the past couple weeks. Think about it: 30 Seconds to Mars x Kanye West. Wow. I just wish they would have made this one of their singles. Plus, songs like this are the only reason I'm not going crazy waiting for the new Kanye album to drop. Anyway, here's Hurricane off of the band's most recent album This Is War. Ow.

Damn 'Ye. We gotta be close to Good Ass Job. Sheesh.

Funny Links - March 25, 2010

Check these out. If you don't find any of these hilarious, I question the necessity of our friendship.

COME ON SON!!! Emeka Okafor Edition

Photobucket
HOW did I miss this?? I guess it's safe to say the "Emeka Experiment" hasn't gone too well for the Hornets. I understand that Emeka Okafor has struggled a little bit since his glory days at UConn, but airballing BOTH free throws??? Peep the jealous face:

Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis: Ben Stiller

Photobucket
In case you haven't already heard, Zach Galifianakis is funny as hell. Like for real. And I'm not sure how I missed out on this but Funny or Die has been posting a series of Galifianakis-hosted interview videos called Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis. It's pretty much a chance for him to ask his guests crazy ass, off-the-wall questions. It's pure comedy. The wildest thing about this is that he's been doing these for almost a year now and I'm just hearing about it. To date he's "interviewed" Michael Cera, Bradley Cooper and Jimmy Kimmel, to name a few. Check out his latest featuring Ben Stiller:

I can't make this shit up.

Wow, Amar'e. WOW.

Photobucket
Yea, I understand that it's the middle of March Madness but since my bracket is T'd and the teams are taking a break before the Sweet Sixteen, I figured I'd take a break for the NBA. But it's not a break for nothing. It's a break to recognize Amar'e Stoudamire's utter disregard for human LIFE. Just watch what he did to Anthony Tolliver last night:

Anthony Tolliver, wipe yourself off.
You're bleeeeeding.

awr's March Madness Breakdown: South

Photobucket

You think that last one was a quick post? The South breakdown is as follows:
  • South Region Finalist: Louisville. [Sorry Dukies] It hurts but Louisville is built for the Tourney and Edgar Sosa has been playing like he has something to prove. Get past Duke in the second round and it's theirs.
  • Upset: Louisville over Cal and over Duke. Yea son.
  • Team to Watch: Besides Louisville [obviously] I'd have to say Nova. You can NEVER count out Scottie Reynolds.
And there you have it. My bracket breakdown. If you need any help in these last few hours, refer to these last fours posts. Because, asamp was right.

awr's March Madness Breakdown: West

Photobucket

Aight, I gotta make this quick. It's St. Patrick's Day and I have yet to have a drink. These last two breakdowns are gonna be more like lists:
  • West Region Finalist: [Secret Team] All I can say is that it's not Syracuse only due to the injury to Onuaku.
  • Upset: UTEP over Butler. I've seen UTEP play a few times and Derrick Caracter is a monster. He really should still be at Louisville still because with him, they'd have the ship on lock this year.
  • Team to Watch: UTEP. If they can get past Butler, I think they can really give Vandy a run for their money. Then in a matchup against Syracuse, they'd be the underdog by a mile. With nothing to lose, UTEP could be dangerous.
Aight, one region left: The South

awr's March Madness Breakdown: Midwest

Photobucket

Aight, now for the Midwest Region. Even though it's been debated whether overall number was actually given the easiest road to the Championship, this region was less difficult to pick. Let's get to the Midwest Region:
  • Midwest Region Finalist: Kansas
Gotta go with Kanas in the Midwest. There might not be another team in the tourney with as good a balance of experience and talent. Sherron Collins has lived up to the expectations and was able to lead his team to the number 1 overall seed. It's been argued that Kanas' road might not be too easy, but they're still only going to have to possibly play Michigan State, Ohio State or Tennessee, that beat them back in January. All do-able games.
  • Upset [If You Can Call it That]: Northern Iowa over UNLV
I mean, these teams are 8 and 9 so they're pretty evenly matched but I've seen Northern Iowa play more than UNLV. Plus, my boy Mase used to play there so I'm giving them the benefit of doubt. #sampshrug
  • Teams to Watch: Ohio State and Maryland
The main reasons to watch these two teams are their marquee players, Evan Turner and Greivis Vasquez, respectively. Both of them are good enough to take over a game at any time. And they probably will.

Up next, West Region!

awr's March Madness Breakdown: East

Photobucket
Yes. I'm finally blogging about March Madness. Work has been crazier than ever but I'm finally back. And it's the perfect time. This year is bound to be one of the most unpredictable tournaments in a very long time, so no picks are really too far-fetched. Since I'm participating in like 5 different brackets, I'm only going to post my finalist in each region, my upsets and my team to watch. That might be too much already but whatever. So here's my breakdown of the East:
  • East Region Finalist: Kentucky
Even though experience might the most important thing to have going into the tourney, sheer talent might be a close second. I'm looking for the combo of Wall, Cousins and Bledsoe to be the best young tourney team since Melo and the boys in 2003.
  • Upset: Cornell over Temple
Most years this seems like a crazy pick but this year is unlike any other. Cornell has a pretty decent game inside and out, highlighted by .434 three point percentage. Hey, you gotta pick upsets somewhere.
  • Team to Watch: West Virginia
Really, it's player to watch. Da'Sean Butler has been getting BUSY all year and he pretty much singlehandedly won huge games in the Big East Championship twice. That leads me to believe that if placed in a similar spot in the tourney, he could make it happen again.

I'm not sure what it is but I'm in a really good mood. I always do well in March Madness and some of these brackets are for $$$. Welp, must be the money!

Midwest Region up next!

Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness Video [Alternate Version]

Photobucket
I would have posted this video but in recognition of B.I.G. Day, I figured I'd wait until today to post. Even though I thought that the original video for Pursuit of Happiness was pretty dope, this new version is 10x better. Crazy effects and an appearance from Ratatat. Good shit Cudi.

Bring on the album sonnnnnnn.

But I'll settle for a new mixtape. For now.

Happy B.I.G. Day

Photobucket
Today marks 13 years since the slaying of the greatest rapper of all-time, Notorious B.I.G. It's pretty hard to believe that it's been so long but I can still remember what I was doing when I heard the news. Even though he seemed to predict it in some of his music, B.I.G.'s passing was both shocking and untimely. Although he lived such a short life, his music is still as relevant and dope today as it was back then. Here are a few of my favorite B.I.G. videos and my favorite Mister Cee freestyle. They should take you back some:

Mo Money, Mo Problems

Hasheem Thabeet Looks Like...

Photobucket
I'm sure that you've heard by now that in an unprecedented move, last years 2nd overall NBA draft pick, Hasheem Thabeet has been demoted to the developmental league. But that's not what this blog post is about. This post is about the one challenge I'm having with Thabeet: trying to figure out exactly what he looks like. So far I've come up with...a lot of things. The most obvious is Jar Jar Binx from Star Wars. Even though the resemblance was closer during his college days, you can still see it a little bit. [And before he cut his hair, Stanley Robinson had the Jar Jar look going.] But I might have figured out where I originally know the Tanzanian center from...he was in an episode of In Living Color! You don't believe me?? Just check it out:

Told you.

Barats and Bereta is Funny as Hell

Photobucket
Barats and Bareta is the comedy duo of Luke Barats and Joe Bareta. They began making short comedy videos back in college at Gonzaga University. You kinda half to turn your brain off but it's still pretty hilarious. That's enough babbling, just watch some of their videos.

Bruce Lee x UNDRCRWN Collection

Photobucket
UNDRCRWN is putting together a collection featuring Bruce Lee. Sounds basic but it's actually pretty dope. The collection is starting with a t-shirt and a sweatshirt that does perfect with the 11's. Because, uh, he's wearing the 11's. The collection will be available on UNDERCRWN.com and BruceLee.com starting April 15th.

Kanye West's Creativity

Kanye's been busy working on his new album and I can't be mad at that but I'm glad he got some much-needed time to vent. With the relaunch of his blog, music and internet are definitely about to be Kanye'd all over again. Check out Kanye West's Creativity:
