My boss put me on Fleet Foxes awhile back but I've pretty much loafed on posting any of their stuff. Until now. This weekend I told myself that I had to post some of their amazing music so here it is. Mykonos is my favorite song from them so far and the video is pretty sick too. I still can't figure out exactly why I like this band so much. They're pretty folkish and mellow....so maybe that's it. Either way, check out Mykonos from their 2008 EP entitled Sun Giant:
Excuse the lateness.
Oh, and don't tell JC I called him "my boss." haha
she singing, "bitch i’m paid, that’s all i gotta say." i’m like who knew, who knew, who knew, that after all the years i’d make a weezy fan out of you too, you too, you too. when i met you, you were thom yorke, chris martin & u2, u2, u2. when you met me i was three6, pimp c, bun b, 8ball & mjg. but we’re both a long way from home, we got the windows down, the radio’s on...always. i wrote a letter to the sky, saying maybe one day you’ll get to kiss me, kiss me, kiss me. my girl found it in the car & said “baby why you trying to diss me, diss me, diss me.” cuz you know you’re my baby, you know you’re my baby. i’m not just in it for the ride. in it for the ride...
I don't really do R&B often, but this kid Frank Ocean, who's surprisingly affiliated with the Odd Future crew, is dope. Acura Integra is the joint that got me hooked. Download the mixtape here or just grab Acura Integurl here....if you know what's good for you.
I mean, that's real. These words were from life-long Knicks fan Stephen Burnett before Carmelo Anthony's Knick debut last night. I have to admit that it's kind of weird seeing Melo in blue & orange, but I ultimately think he made the right move. Denver wasn't going to get it done and Melo really wanted to play in New York/New Jersey. The stat line was pretty good for Melo: 27 & 10.
Highlights, you say...??
Sheeeit.
With Carmelo and now Deron Williams heading to this side of the country, the NBA is definitely East-heavy. And I couldn't be happier.
The only person that shouldn't be happy about this is Kenny "Sky" Walker. His #7 Knicks jersey is now quite irrelevant.
What do Aphex Twin, Paramore and Rivers Cuomo have in common?? ...they're random as shit, that's what.
Those that know me well know that I don't go anywhere without my iPhone/iPod. Something that I really pride myself on is having a good mix of both classic songs and new music as well as a wide variety of music. And pretty much using the shuffle setting gets me the most random and well-rounded mix of music.
This was more apparent than ever last night when my iPod played three of the most random songs consecutively:
Pretty f'ing random. Click the links if you don't believe me.
But then this got me to thinking, "What if I starting posting the first three songs that come on my iPod when its on random?" And that's exactly what I'm gonna do. So here's the first Today in iPod Randomness post:
Some new heat from three guys that are going to have huge 2011's. Jay West, Dom Kennedy and BJ the Chicago kid got together in Atlanta for the new joint So Hard. Hopefully by now you've heard my man Jay West's insane mixtape drugs+CANDY. But in case you were living under a rock, I've included a DL link here. Don't fake. And check out the preview for So Hard below:
Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer returned to Utah for the first time since becoming members of the best team in sports history Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. Who would predict that Korver and Brewer would be the difference makers??? Well, that and Derrick Rose going for 29, 7 and three. Check the highlights:
Note: Actually....NBA.com won't let me embed the highlight video from last night...
But you can catch the highlights here. What was that you were saying Nick Batum???
On the college side, Duke overcame 16 points to jealous North Carolina last night. Nolan Smith went all J.J. Redick and went for 35. Young Seth added a career-high 22. I guess even with Kyrie, all's well on Tobacco Road.
Hip-hop and all around culture blog Greedmont Park has released its digital magazine issue for Winter 2011. It's a dope blog, a dope magazine with dope content. Definitely worth checking out. You can peep it below or on their blog here.
