Van She - Changes [MP3 + Download]

Photobucket
Van She is one of many bands that I didn't start listening to until a few years after they reached the peak of their popularity. I almost loafed. If it wasn't for me checking samples on Crystal Castles' first album, I probably would've never found em. Funny how samples work. It turns out that Crystal Castles sampled Van She on one of my favorite songs of theirs, Vanished. [Get it...Van She...Vanished?...alright.] You have to listen closely to get the sample, but it's there.

Anyway, the point of all this is to show you the song Changes which is my favorite track off of Van She's debut album V. It even has a little bit of a Phoenix-y sound around the hook. Check it out.

Also check out the song that started it all, Sex City.

Crystal Castles x Robert Smith - Not In Love [Video]

Photobucket
What's not to love about a new video from band that uses video game sounds from the same video game it was named after and is dope as shit?? That made zero sense so instead of trying to figure out, just check this new video for the Crystal Castles and Robert Smith (The Cure) song Not In Love. It's pretty dope.....in a trippy, psychedelic, acid-induced, Pink Floyd kind of way. Check it out:

Music of the Moment - May 23, 2008

Crystal Castles is a Toronto-based electronica group consisting of instrumentalist Ethan Kath and vocalist Alice Glass. The sound is incomparable and they're known as much for their remixes of songs as they are for their own. Named after the Crystal Castle from the She-Ra video game, the band samples sounds and voices from video games and other media for their songs. My favorite joint from them is "Alice Practice" which is known as an accidental recording. Check it out here:

It took some effort but I was able to find their Crimewave video. Yurp.
