Yesterday was going great: Church was awesome, shot some really good scenes for the movie, got a nice little bite to eat. Perfect little Sunday, right?? Wrong. On the way home I got JEALOUS'D by the police and got pulled over. He claimed I drove right through a stop sign and clearly I didn't. Anyway, this is a film interpretation of what essentially happened:
So yea, that's pretty much what happened. Except there was only one cop and he was Black. When he asked where I lived I should have said, "A small town called 'Fresh of a cop's ass. And you're makin me home sick.'"
Haven't posted shit anything in a sec. Been busy with work and shooting this movie. [Ow.] This should get me thru until tomorrow. I mean, you can't go wrong with Kings of Leon @ Lollapalooza.
[Note: This was the first song I ever heard from KOL. The rest is history.]
So, I decided [after weeks and weeks of binge drinking on a daily basis] to give up beer for a month. I know, it's only beer and yeah, it's only a month. Should be no problem right?? Wrong. I started this little experiment this past Sunday [August 23] so I'm pretty much just getting started. But check THIS shit out: On Monday night [August 24] I went to my usual Monday night spot with @Pbbt and we just finished our food and got our checks. I signed mine and gave it to the waitress when I got tapped on the shoulder by this random dude [nh]. I wondered what he could possibly want and when I turned around he said, "Hey man, my friends and I bought too many beers and we're about to leave so if you guys want these, you can have em." I couldn't believe it. I give up beer for ONE DAY and people are already offering me FREE BEER. Wheredeydodatat?????? I was able to reluctantly decline these but if people are giving beer AWAY, then it might be hard to make it 30 days. Smh.
I can't believe it's been eight years since the untimely death of one of the entertainment industry's bright, young stars. Aaliyah would have been 30 this year and I'm sure that if she were alive, she'd still be making classic music and great movies. She changed the whole R&B game for the better while also setting the stage for R&B artists today. Without Aaliyah there would be no Beyonce, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, etc. Not only was she immensely talented, but she was the original bad girl. [She was SOOOOO bad.] I know this isn't one of her most popular songs, but it was definitely one of my favorites from the peak of her success. R.I.P. Aaliyah.
So I guess Florida's gonna be good again this year.
Tebow and the boys are on a mission to repeat as National Champs and apparently a lot of people think they will. In the Associated Press' Preseason Top 25, the Gators received 58 of 60 first place votes -- the most in the history of the poll. Hot damn. Texas got the other two first place votes but it really doesn't matter. As far as the SEC goes, Bama came in at #5, Ole Miss snuck in at #8 [overrated], LSU came in at #11 and Georgia rounded it out at #13. Not too bad. Bama has a chance to go pretty far and I feel like my Tigers are a sleeper this year but I'm not too convinced on Ole Miss and UGA. They still have a lot to prove in my opinion.
In other "Can't Get Right" news, Ryan Perriloux [the former #1 ranked QB in high school football and LSU signee] just got suspended for the season opener for his team Jacksonville State. Apparently he violated some team rules and will be forced to sit the game out. His season debut will be the following week against Florida State. Talk about wasted talent. He actually still has all the talent in the world, he's just been making really bad decisions. When I was in high school, we went against this fool in 7 on 7 and he was literally the best quarterback I've ever played against. I still feel like he can make it to the league one day if he cleans up his act and settles down some. Real talk, had he done the right thing last year he would have been our starting QB and we wouldn't have gone 8-5. But everything happens for a reason. I wish him all the best but DAMN bro.
So I might as well post one last summer song. If you grew up rockin the burbs like me, you should remember this joint from middle school. This group Len was pretty much the definition of a one hit wonder but this joint used to rock. Oww.
Was I the only one that was feeling this song back then???
So I'm in the crib watching Mean Girls [no cable in the new crib, cut me some slack] and then I started hearing about Chad Ochocinco kicking an extra point in the Bengals' preseason game against the Patriots. [Shouts to @BdotLaw for being the first to RT.] Is there nothing this guy can't do?? I wish the NFL didn't suck ass and would allow touchdown celebrations. There's no telling what this dude would come up with.
But the hate HAD to come from somewhere...
smh.
Buuuuuut....Skip did reply to my @ message via DM. I can't front like I wasn't hype like shit.
New Jay-Z video, people. Nothing epic but it's yet another reminder that Blueprint 3 is on the way. Yeezy's on the joint and so is Rihanna. The song is dope but the video is on some other shit. It's kinda like Big Pimpin meets Mad Max Thunderdome...idk.
When it comes to movies, I do comedies. Funny shit will prevail any day of the week and NOBODY is killing the comedy game like Seth Rogen. I mean, 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, Step Brothers, Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri make a Porno, Observe and Report, Funny People...his movies speak for themselves. The little known fact is that Rogen has been acting in funny shit stuff for years. Back in 1999 he co-starred in the short-lived comedy series Freaks and Geeks on NBC. What's even more interesting were the actors that he worked with on the show, many of which he's worked with again in recent years. Co-stars included James Franco [Pineapple Express], Jason Sigel [Knocked Up], Martin Starr [Knocked Up], David Krumholtz [Knocked Up], Kevin Corrigan [Superbad], Jason Schwartzman [Funny People], and even Shia LaBeouf. One of Judd Apatow's earliest works, the show was hilarious and the cast is classic to say the least. Check out some of the clips:

And here's Seth Rogen's audition for Freaks and Geeks.
I guess funny really does have to start somewhere.
It's no secret that I've been listening to Loso's Way pretty much nonstop since Fabolous dropped it. After my first listen, I wasn't too sure about it but I've grown to really [really] like it and I don't think It's gotten all the credit that it deserves. With that being said, the video for one of my favorite joints on the album, Money Goes, Honey Stay [When the Money Goes Pt.2] just dropped and it's ill to say the least. And it features none other than Hov himself. Check it out:
[Note: And even though I was blown about there not being a Jay verse on the album, my girl @YaNi_babi put me onto Jay's original version here. Chills.]
Honestly, I've been away from hip hop for awhile for a number of reasons: nothing new, too many gimmick rappers and it just hasn't been that interesting. But this is different. I wrote about my brother Godlove Benjamin awhile back when he hit me with some pictures he took. Not only his G one of the realest dudes I met during my time at Morehouse, but he's also nice on the mic. Listen to these joints now because in 10 years you're going to wish you had. Oww.
[Note: And on top of the brotherhood, loyalty and intellect, he's his own personal photographer. Who's fuckin with that??]
