The Bulls Give Me the Sads [Tanking Time Is Here]

 photo 7d2c5379-2f3e-4083-8587-eb8ecca8aa9c_zps28184f65.jpg
So, Bulls. What's going on here? We've lost 5 of 7 since losing Derrick Rose for the year and last night we lost to the lowly New York Knicks. Not only that, but we let Melo drop 30 and 10 and we had literally no answer. Not even against this offense:
But hey, it could be worse. We could be the Brooklyn Nets. And with all that said, I'm actually glad we lost last night. Without Rose, we're definitely not a championship caliber team. We might as well bomb this year and hope to enter Tankapalooza aka The Andrew Wiggins Sweepstakes aka Operation: Sorry for Jabari aka Tanking Time.
Yes. If we're not gonna win it all, might as well get set for the future. Call it Shanahanning.

J.R. Smith [Parody] - So Right [Video]

 photo e2fa709d-a810-4fe5-94d2-6c48f8140509_zps18360288.jpg
OK, so I realize it's March 27th and we're literally in the heart of March Madness. All energy and focus should be on the Sweet 16. I get this. But every once in awhile we come across something so majestic, so glorious—if you will—that it just can't wait. This video definitely qualifies. Now, I don't know who to thank [or more appropriately, blame] for this song and video inspired by J.R. Smith, everyone's favorite sharpshooting black hole/booty twitpic'er, but seriously, Thank You. Special shout out to the internet. And upon further review, I'm not 100% convinced that this wasn't made by J.R. Smith himself. Behold:

So, again, I'm not sure who deserves the praise for this amazing song/video but there is one thing we all can be confident of: J.R. Smith's Gonna J.R. Smith.

The Sun Will Come Out To-Melo...

Photobucket
"Now we're respectable. Now we're a contender."

I mean, that's real. These words were from life-long Knicks fan Stephen Burnett before Carmelo Anthony's Knick debut last night. I have to admit that it's kind of weird seeing Melo in blue & orange, but I ultimately think he made the right move. Denver wasn't going to get it done and Melo really wanted to play in New York/New Jersey. The stat line was pretty good for Melo: 27 & 10.
Highlights, you say...??

Sheeeit.

With Carmelo and now Deron Williams heading to this side of the country, the NBA is definitely East-heavy. And I couldn't be happier.

The only person that shouldn't be happy about this is Kenny "Sky" Walker. His #7 Knicks jersey is now quite irrelevant.

Ah well.

Bulls Front Office....let's make a move. Please??

Lebron Sweepstakes....The Final Decision

Photobucket
With today being the Chicago Bulls official day that Lebron will announce his next team, I'm still not Chicago Bulls sure who he'll sign with. I might not even Chicago Bulls be sure where I want him to go. Miami might be the most attractive team Chicago Bulls now that they've signed both DWade and Chris Bosh, but the Bulls have Derrick Rose and now Carlos Boozer. Lebron has the attention of the world Chicago Bulls and his decision will impact the NBA and sports in general for years to come. Can't be mad at setting precedence. If you're not watching tonight at 9, you're buggin. Um, Chicago Bulls.

And for the record, I'm hoping he comes to the Bulls.
Like you didn't see that coming.

Come on Lebron. Make it happen.
Just don't let THIS happen. ↓↓

Decision 2010 is upon us.

The Bulls...UnJealous'd. The Knicks...Treated.

Photobucket
So yea, the blog is back from a brief hiatus. Again. Work, as well as searching for a a new job, has really kept me busy lately. All-Star Weekend was cool and all [I guess] but after the lackluster Dunk Contest, I deemed the whole weekend pretty much as non-blogworthy. With that being said, yesterday's thrashing of the Knicks has been the best basketball news I've seen in more than a week. D.Rose balled, like always, with 29 and 6. Check the recap:
Also hot on the Bulls scene are rumors that we might trade for Tracy McGrady. We're a day away from the NBA trade deadline and I'm not 100% on how I feel about this trade. If this was five years ago and we're talking about getting Tracy McGrady, I might be hype but it's not. T-Mac has been one of the disappointments in the league over the last few years and we'll probably be giving up Tyrus and Kirk Hinrich for him. Eh. I'm also pretty partial to Tyrus because of his affiliation to LSU. We really loafed on getting Amare and Bosh so T-Mac might be the best we can get at this point. Hey, maybe a trade to Chicago is what McGrady needs to rejuvenate his career. If we do decide to trade for him, let's at least hope there's more of this:

than there is of this:

Wtf: Sports Edition

Photobucket

Yo, wtf??

On the eve of Playoff Basketball, the sports world is a little crazy right now. I'll elaborate.

First off, Isaiah Thomas has decided to take the head coach position at Florida International. Florida International?? Word??? That's the best you could get Isaiah?? When I first heard this, I immediately thought it was curtains for Isaiah Thomas. And then I heard something today that confirmed it: He's working for free next season. $0 dollars. So this new coaching gig is basically a glorified internship. Isaiah Thomas has an internship to be the head coach at Florida International. Wow.

In other nutty sports news....Greg Paulus, the former staring point guard for the Duke Blue Devils, had work out with the last week. He just finished his fourth year at Duke and I guess he missed his old pastime. Paulus was a standout football player in high school and he was even named the 2004 Gatorade Football Player of the Year....but he hasn't played in four years. And definitely not on a professional level. And yesterday he even met with Michigan football coach about possibly playing for the Wolverines this year. Crazy. But stranger things have happened.

[Note: Playoffs start Saturdayyy. Oh shit. The NBA Playoffs Beer Pong: Where Real Amazing Happens.]

NBA Trade Ish

After much deliberation, I've finally decided that the Bulls made a good choice in sending Andres Nocioni, Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and Michael Ruffin to the Kings for Brad Miller and John Salmons. I was never really the biggest Nocioni fan, but he got the job done for us. Always played hard, never backed down...but he just wasn't necessary. I actually liked Drew Gooden but he just never lived up to the post-Kansas hype. He was a big man for us but Brad Miller gives us more of a realistic option in the post. I know that John Salmons will be an offensive threat and it should be interesting to see what he can do along side D.Rose, Luol and Ben Gordon. (If he stays.)

I also think it was smart for the Bulls to be aggressive in acquiring Miller and Salmons after it looks like Amare might be off the market after the Suns' firing of Terry Porter. Plus, I also don't think we still have enough bargaining chips to get to Amare even if he is still on the trading block. Another late thing I've heard is that the Bulls are planning to send Larry Hughes to the Knicks for Jerome James, Tim Thomas and Anthony Roberson. I'm not as big a fan of this trade but it's going to open up some cap space for next year. This move would also give us another actual chance to get Amare in a year or so. Ow.

Tyson Chandler was sent back to New Orleans after he failed his physical for the Thunder. Damn man. This is good news for the Hornets because even though they freed up some cap space by getting rid of Chandler, they took big steps back as a contender because Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox were NOT gonna cut it.

Other random trade ish:

  • Shaq's not going to the Cavs. Even though I would LOVE to see Shaq get another ring with another team, I just don't see this as likely to happen.
  • Rashad McCants and Calvin Booth are heading to Sacramento for Shelden Williams and Bobby Brown. (No, not that Bobby Brown.)
  • The Lakers shipped Chris Mihm to the Grizzlies for a second-round pick in 2013. Oh well.
  • And lastly, T-Mac is out for the season. And he pulled a Bobby Petrino on the way out.
T-Mac u mad.

[Note: And as hype as I am for the Bulls to get Brad Miller, let's just hope that we get this Brad Miller. Not THIS Brad Miller. Ow.]

Lebron Outdoes Kobe....for once.

Lebron James decided to follow-up Kobe's 61 point massacre of the Knicks by recording a triple double of 52 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds last night in MSG. Whoa. You might say, "Hey, it's only 53 points. Kobe scored 61." Yeah, but he didn't have any rebounds and only had 3 assists. Lebron's night was much more impressive. He is also the first person to score 50+ points in a triple double since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did it in 1975...10 years before Lebron was born. Basically, he balled.

The Lakers play Boston tonight but I can't WAIT for the Lakers/Cavs game on Sunday. It's gonna be a SHOW.

And how about my Bulls rebounding from a 7 point loss against the Rockets by handling the Hornets in New Orleans. D.Rose dropped 21 and 6 and the team as a whole played pretty good d. A sign of things to come??? Playoffs for the Bulls?????

Nah. Don't bet on it.
