The Bulls Give Me the Sads [Tanking Time Is Here]

So, Bulls. What's going on here? We've lost 5 of 7 since losing Derrick Rose for the year and last night we lost to the lowly New York Knicks. Not only that, but we let Melo drop 30 and 10 and we had literally no answer. Not even against this offense: But hey, it could be worse. We could be the Brooklyn Nets. And with all that said, I'm actually glad we lost last night. Without Rose, we're definitely not a championship caliber team. We might as well bomb this year and hope to enter Tankapalooza aka The Andrew Wiggins Sweepstakes aka Operation: Sorry for Jabari aka Tanking Time.
Yes. If we're not gonna win it all, might as well get set for the future. Call it Shanahanning.

OK, so I realize it's March 27th and we're literally in the heart of March Madness. All energy and focus should be on the Sweet 16. I get this. But every once in awhile we come across something so majestic, so glorious—if you will—that it just can't wait. This video definitely qualifies. Now, I don't know who to thank [or more appropriately, blame] for this song and video inspired by J.R. Smith, everyone's favorite sharpshooting black hole/booty twitpic'er, but seriously, Thank You. NBA 2K12.....Finally.

Welp, the day is finally here. 2K12 is in stores and even though it doesn't have rookies and we might not even have a 2012 NBA season, you still have to be excited for this release. I mean, you have to be. And the game intro is quite dope:

Happy Belated Birthday, Penny Hardaway

I'm lowkey upset that yesterday I missed the 40^th birthday of one of my favorite basketball players of all time, Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway. Honestly, Penny might have missed the mark in terms of all-time greatness due to injuries, but he could have quite possibly the second best signature shoe series in basketball history. [Behind Jordan, of course.]

And that, my friends, is quite an accomplishment.

Inside Mark Jackson’s Job Interview

This is why Trey Kerby is the funniest NBA writer alive. I saw this last night on The Basketball Jones and it was far too funny not to share. We all know that Mark Jackson has recently been hired as the Head Coach of the Golden State Warriors. We also know that he has a number of sayings, some funny and some....not so funny. [Ex. "Are You Kidding Me?", "You're Better Than That.", "Mama there goes that man!", "Hand Down, Man Down."] Well, Trey basically wrote the play-by-play of how he imagined Mark Jackson's interview went. It's beyond perfect.

Joe Lacob, Warriors owner: Hi, Mark. We’re really glad you’re able to meet with us today.

Mark Jackson: Are you kidding me?

Jerry West, consultant: OK, so let’s get in to some Xs and Os. We’re kind of notorious for our poor defense. How would you change that?

MJ: Hand down, man down.

JL: Excuse me?

Derrick Rose Wins MVP

I mean, we've all known for a few weeks that this was going to happen but last night made it official. Rose becomes the youngest MVP in league history at 22 years old, a distinction previously held by Wes Unseld who won the award in 1969 at 23.

Rose received 1,182 total points in the voting with 113 first place votes. He edged out Orlando's Dwight Howard (643 points, three first place), Miami's LeBron James (522, four first-place votes), the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant (428, one first-place vote) and Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant (190).

Well done, Derrick.

Bulls Set For Game 1, Thibodeau Wins Coach of the Year

This weekend, Bulls Head Coach Tom Thibodeau was named the 2010-2011 NBA Coach of the Year, joining the ranks of Johnny "Red" Kerr (1967), Dick Motta (1971) and Phil Jackson (1996). This is a major accomplishment mainly because winning this award in a rookie campaign has only been done six times before this year and in doing so, he also guided the Bulls to the best record in the NBA.

Bulls Finish Pacers, Set For 2nd Round

Man, it took us long enough.

Even though we were able to beat the Pacers by 27 points last night, we still didn't play consistently throughout the First Round series. Heading into the Eastern Conference Semis, we're going to have to continue to get big games from Derrick Rose, keep up our dominant team defense and get an actual contribution from Carlos Boozer. Bulls Earn #1 Overall Seed. Unh.

With their win over New Jersey and the Spurs' loss to the Suns last night, the Bulls have taken control over home court advantage for the entire playoffs.
This is huge. Mainly because of the added confidence to our young team and also for some much-needed momentum going into the playoffs.

Oh yea, and there was one more thing about last night's game at United Center....Scottie Pippen and Ron Harper were there. Yea. That Ron Harper. Random but at the same time, it makes perfect sense. Somehow.


We open up the 2011 playoffs this Saturday at home against Indiana at 1:00 pm.

Let's go, Chicago.

Today, in "The Bulls Win Again" News...

...the Bulls win again.

This time it was against the Orlando Magic and I was surprised we even played so hard considering that we already locked up the #1 seed in the East. D.Rose dropped 39, making Jameer Nelson look like a damn fool in the process. The win also improved our record to 60-20. And that's nasty. Check the highlights:

Derrick Rose dropped 30 points, 5 rebounds and dished 8 assists to lift the first place Bulls over the Celtics last night in Chicago.

As of last night, the Heat lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Magic beat the Bucks in overtime. Doesn't really matter though because the Bulls have the #1 spot.

Are the Miami Heat in Trouble??

After the Miami Heat lost their 5^th straight game last night against the Portland Trail Blazers, a lot of NBA fans are saying the Heat are in trouble. Maybe it's the pressure of living up to the hype has been too much but the Heat just haven't figured it out yet. Even with 38 from Dwyane Wade and 31 from Lebron, the Heat still got the L. What gives?? Are the Miami Heat in trouble??

The short answer is no. Expectations for the Heat were probably too high from the beginning. Plus, you can add that to the fact that Pat Riley should realistically be the head coach of this team anyway. As far as last night's game goes, wack ass Chris Bosh was held to just 7 points! There is one alarming thing about the Heat though, their record against the other top teams in the league:
Pretty bad. But even the Heat's 1-9 record can be misleading when you compare it to Championship-favorite LA Lakers' 2-6 against the other top teams.
Basically, there's no real reason for concern here. The Heat could are still in contention for first place in the East...kind of. Boston's going to hang on for the #1 spot and the Bulls will stay at #2. A third seed for Miami is definitel doable and a good step for a first year together. Give em a break.

Plus, how can you feel sorry for them? Look at their DANCERS.

The Sun Will Come Out To-Melo...

I mean, that's real. These words were from life-long Knicks fan Stephen Burnett before Carmelo Anthony's Knick debut last night. I have to admit that it's kind of weird seeing Melo in blue & orange, but I ultimately think he made the right move. Denver wasn't going to get it done and Melo really wanted to play in New York/New Jersey. The stat line was pretty good for Melo: 27 & 10.

With Carmelo and now Deron Williams heading to this side of the country, the NBA is definitely East-heavy. And I couldn't be happier.

The only person that shouldn't be happy about this is Kenny "Sky" Walker. His #7 Knicks jersey is now quite irrelevant.
