God bless you, Gucci Mane.

This afternoon, while taking a break from parole violations and mentoring the chirrens, Gucci Mane released So Icey 2, the first song from the upcoming album/mixtape, Trap House 3, due May 21. Obviously there's no Jeezy this time around. The streets needed this, Gucci, so thanks. Check it out below.
Pretty far from the original but it goes either way.

Throwback Music of the Moment - April 7, 1999

Photobucket
Man, I can't be the only dude I know that listened to Canibus. Seriously, he was one of the most slept on rappers of our lifetime. That sounds like a bold statement but I can actually stand by it. His verse on 4, 3, 2, 1 was insane and even put him in the hip-hop spotlight. He followed it up with 2nd Round KO and I knew he was nice. This is one of my favorite songs from his debut album, Can-I-Bus entitled Buckingham Palace. Definitely dope.

Canibus - Buckingham Palace

Download: Buckingham Palace

I have to do more research to see what Canibus is up to these days. He might still be in the military but he could also be working on new music.

Let's hope it's the latter.

J.J. Redick...?? WORRRRRRRDDDD???

Photobucket
So apparently, J.J. Redick is going to be the next NBA player to drop a rap CD. Wow. This really makes no sense, but we'll see how it works out. Hopefully better than his NBA career because we're all waiting on that to take off. You can get the full story here. It actually seems like the real deal. And just for the record, I actually liked J.J. when he was back at Duke. He was [arguably] one of the best shooters ever at the level but it just never translated to the league. Oh well, maybe he can rap.

Don't bet on it though.
I mean, just look at Ron Artest:

[Note: In Ron's defense, there ARE sufficient snookups in his video.]

The first single from Redick's unnamed supergroup is called "Waste Management."
My god. Please let the hilarity ensue.

The Most GANGSTA Rap Group You've Never Heard Of...

Photobucket
It has to be Gank Move. "Who is Gank Move" you might be askin...well I'll tell ya. [Note: For that reference, check here around the 2:59 mark] Gank Move was a gangsta rap group from Detroit [of all places] back in the early 90's. They had roots to California which explains their West Coast-ish sound. They dropped one album, Come Into My World and they pretty much rapped about robbing, killing, drugs and murder. And they kept it real. Big Mello has since died and Bango is in jail for LIFE. Just another example of when "Keeping it Real Goes Wrong." This shit still kawld tho...
[Note: Peep the FULL Charlotte Hornets' outfit @ the 0:37 mark and the half-pound/half-slap handshake @ the 1:07 mark. Ballin.]

And the Detroit heads are commenting like crazy on YouTube:
