Kid Cudi - Going to the Ceremony [Stream]

photo 001d07f6-d962-4d0d-9d50-3b9ad6c4e12d_zpsdea3239d.jpg[This article was originally posted by asamp at ClanEclectic.com.]

Seemingly out of nowhere, Kid Cudi has released a new song entitled Going to the Ceremony. It’s only been a little over two months since Cudi dropped his third album Indicud, so I have no clue where this track will end up. But that clearly doesn’t matter because it’s summertime and no Summer is complete without some new Cudi. The overall sound isn't new for Cudi but it is a change of pace from his most recent project. Check it out:
I fully expect Going to the Ceremony to be the soundtrack for BBQ's and fireworks displays everywhere this weekend.

Kid Cudi feat. Kendrick Lamar - Solo Dolo Part II [MP3]

 photo Kid-Cudi-Indicud-Snippets-VIBE_zps7af707db.jpg
So, Kid Cudi's much-anticipated third [or fourth, depending on who you ask] album Indicud leaked yesterday, or so I heard through the Twitters. Upon first listen, the album has an exceptionally strong start but seems to fizzle out pretty hard toward the end. The early highlight, other than previously released singles King Wizard and Immortal has to be the Kendrick Lamar-assisted Solo Dolo Part II. Now, I'm not sure how someone can make a song with someone else and still call it Solo Dolo, but this song works and it goes. For some strange reason, Kendrick is still hungry and Cudi's still Cudi. [And I mean that in the best way possible.] Check out Solo Dolo Part II:

Cudi is always an artist that leads to debate and early thoughts on Indicud are mixed. I've always been a fan of his. I mean, he makes music to rage and drink beer to, what's not to love. But at the same time, I've felt let down at some points in the past. But at least with this album, we might as well wait until it's actually released to completely dissect it.....yeah right. Where's the fun in that?

Kid Cudi & Cage - Maniac Video [Directed by Shia LaBeouf]

Photobucket
This was definitely a great Halloween present.

Even though it's been almost a solid year since Kid Cudi released Man on the Moon II, he's not done putting out videos for it. And by videos, I mean crazy ass murderous videos. This video [kinda] for Maniac, my favorite song off the album, is pretty gruesome and definitely draws some major influence from the Stress video from Justice. Check it out:

Whoa.

Um...Happy Holidays?

Kid Cudi - Mr. Rager [Video]

Photobucket
I can never get enough new material from Kid Cudi. And even though song is almost a year old, I'm still counting this recently released video as new. And I know people [myself included] that play this joint to this day. Plus, the video is extra Kill Bill meets From Dusk Till Dawn like. Check it out:

New music.
I needs that.

Matt & Kim feat. Soulja Boy and Andrew WK - I'm a Goner [Video + MP3]

Photobucket
Trust me, if someone told me last yeat that I'd have a blog post just mentioning Soulja Boy I'd say you were a fool. But then again, some people say cucumbers taste better pickled Regardless, I'm not writing this post simply about Soulja Boy. I'm writing because Converse has done it again: Put together three acts that would normally never [ever] collaborate. Last year it was Kid Cudi, Bethany Cosentino from Best Coast and Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend on the song All Summer. This year's version features the duo Matt & Kim, rapper Soulja Boy and Andrew WK. Not sure if this year's version stacks up to last year's but at least they tried something different.

...right?

Not too turrible.

Kid Cudi - No One Believes Me [Video]

Photobucket
"Damn asamp was right, Where the hell you been??"

Finally back after a brief hiatus. Between work, more work and Watch the Throne's release last week, I haven't had much time to scour the internet for new music. I did, however, happen to come across Kid Cudi's new video for his song on the Fright Night Soundtrack. I mean, the movie looks pretty terrible but the song and video are dope:

Unh. New Coodwah.

Lissie - Pursuit of Happiness [Kid Cudi Cover] [Video]

Photobucket
So I'm very extremely new to Lissie but I'm already a huge fan of hers mainly for three reasons:
  1. She's from Illinois
  2. She chugs tequila like a champ
  3. And she performed an amazing cover of Pursuit of Happiness at a show last year.

Not sure how I missed this for an entire year but I'm sold nonetheless. I mean, the cover was so dope that some considered it the top cover of 2010.
Check it out:

Guess I have some research to do.

Kid Cudi - Mojo So Dope. Yup.

Photobucket
If you thought there was no way Cudi could drop more music this summer, then you'd be dead wrong. Here's Mojo So Dope, the next song from his much-anticipated [by me at least] album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. Couple days late because this campaign life is crazy. Check it out:
Kid Cudi - Mojo So Dope

Cudi is absolutely MURDERING this summer.

Kid Cudi - REVOFEV [Live]

Photobucket
Live from the Bape store in NYC, Cudi performs his new joint, REVOFEV off of Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. The title of the song is short for Revolution of Evolution and it's definitely the unjealous. Shouts to VEVO for doing something besides making me wait extra long to watch YouTube videos.
September.

Summer Songs: Kid Cudi x Bethany Cosentino x Rostam Batmanglij - All Summer

Photobucket

New Cudder. [I STILL never get tired of saying that.] This is a promotional joint from Converse, of all companies. And it's dope as shit. It features vocals from Bethany Cosentino, one half of the duo Best Coast and drums from Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend. The title says enough about it being the perfect summer song but after one listen I could tell it'll be in my heavy rotation all the way through September. Well done, Converse.

Music of the Moment - July 1, 2010

Photobucket
New Cudi. I never get tire of saying that. This joint is featuring my favorite artist, Mr. Kanye West. I'm hoping that this song makes it onto Man on the Moon II. I mean, let's hope so. And I get a late pass because I was at work all day. Check out Erase Me featuring Kanye West.

Music of the Moment - May 30, 2010 // Cudi x Chip x LCD Soundsystem

Photobucket

Aight, new Cudi. And this is always a good thing. This time it's featuring Chip tha Ripper and the beat from LCD Soundsystem's new joint Dance Yrslf Clean. Oh yea, and it has an intro from......Christian Bale??? Yea. Dope track. Listen and download below.
Kid Cudi feat. Chip tha Ripper - All Talk

Even though I feel like Curren$y raps over the best beats on his mixtapes, I think Cudi raps on the most diverse. First Vampire Weekend's Ottoman for cudderisback, then Ratatat's Tacobel Canon for Heaven at Night and I can't forget the whole A Kid Named Cudi Mixtape.

Still waiting for Man on the Moon II...

Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness Video [Alternate Version]

Photobucket
I would have posted this video but in recognition of B.I.G. Day, I figured I'd wait until today to post. Even though I thought that the original video for Pursuit of Happiness was pretty dope, this new version is 10x better. Crazy effects and an appearance from Ratatat. Good shit Cudi.

Bring on the album sonnnnnnn.

But I'll settle for a new mixtape. For now.

More new Cudi. Can't be mad. Plus this one is a lock to be on Cudder: The Revolution of Evolution and it's featuring none other than Snoop Dogg. Check it out:

Music [Video] of the Moment - February 10, 2010

Photobucket
Finally, a video for David Guetta and Kid Cudi's new joint Memories. It's pretty much just a Cudi track over Guetta's beat but it's still dope. Can't be mad at that.

Music [Video] of the Moment - January 26, 2009

Photobucket
Cudder is back. That's actually the name of his latest video but it's always good to have some new Cudi. This joint is off of his next album that was recently retitled Cudder: The Revolution of Evolution. You know it's gonna be some more dopeness. Peep the video for cudderisback:
Dopeness.

Music of the Moment - October 12, 2009 [Samples Edition]

Photobucket
One of the things I love most about hip hop is the use of samples. It shows a link to today's music and music from the past and can also tell a lot about the artist/producer and the song itself. It's also cool when one song is sampled to create more than one other song. But it's even more dope if the original was in a completely different genre than the songs that sampled it. That's what I figured I would showcase today. Here's an example of song song that was sampled for more than one song and the message in each of the new songs couldn't be anything further from the same.
Sample: Paul Simon - 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover [1975]

Song #1: Tupac & Eminem - Murder Murder [1999]

Song #2: Common - Forever Begins [2007]

Song #3: Kid Cudi - 50 Ways to Make a Record [2007]
Cudi's version is probably my favorite and the closest to Simon's original. But you can definitely hear the similarites to the original in both Eminem and Common's versions. Eminem even used the drum sample again for his 2005 song Like Toy Soldiers.

Pretty dope if you ask me.
And even if you didn't.
